BBC News - After Benghazi revelations, heads will roll
"This is the first hard evidence that the state department did ask for changes to the CIA's original assessment.
Specifically, they wanted references to previous warnings deleted and this sentence removed: "We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to al-Qa'ida participated in the attack."
There's little doubt in my mind that this will haunt Hillary Clinton if she decides to run for president, unless she executes some pretty fancy footwork.
State department spokesperson Victoria Nuland is directly implicated, and the fingerprints of senior White House aides Ben Rhodes and Jay Carney are there as well."
so even foreign news organizations are coming around and realizing it is a cover up and apologizing for dismissing it at first

what is so sad and is making me ashamed of American news organizations is the rest of the world is waking up and calling it a cover up and our news organizations are still trying to spin it away, while the world is laughing at themI don't think anyone believes Obama " went to bed ".
They all got caught in this lie, and the media was complacent and complicit.
Anything to get him re-elected.

Dam right he went to bed he gave is final order to let them die and walked offObama probably did go to bed thinking others would handle the situation "appropriately" (whatever appropriate means to Obama I don't know).
IMO, this whole damn tragedy is the result of political correctness... If we went in and saved our people and kicked ass the US would look like the bad guy and Obama wanted to save face so they did nothing.... That's the jest - cannon fodder.

It's about diplomacy. If we landed a huge invasion force to save 4 people, a lot more than 4 people would have died. Ambassadors know that it can be risky, especially in a place like Libya.

This "don't hit, talk" on a geopolitical spectrum is bull****...
I have to disagree with that. I think this tragedy is the result of us going into Libya in the first damn place. If we hadn't done that, this would have never happened.

Diplomacy my ass, and what huge invasion force are you talking about?
Ambassadors know it can be risky, especially in a place like Libya. Now tell me is Hillery too stupid to know that. So she is too stupid to keep our embassies safe especially in a place like Libya. Her political career is over, she's too stupid.
Article 22

of the mission against any intrusion or damage and to prevent any disturbance of the peace of the

Actually, that's why we're both alive. The Cuban Missile Crisis, and countless times before the fall of the Soviet Union anything could have happened if we just nuked everybody.
Keeping the premises safe was the responsibility of the Libyans

WHAT????? The Cuban Missile Crisis wasn't ended due to "diplomacy" - we caught Russia red handed setting up nuclear bases in Cuba via U2 spy plane photos, drilled them about them while they denied it entirely then after they did we presented them with the photos and made the USSR look like total jackasses in front of the world....
Humility and deception is what ceased the Cuban missile crisis - no diplomacy involved.
Kennedy would have blown Cuba off the map if he could -- yeah, go read about all his loony ideas on how to invade Cuba, attack Cuba, assassinate Castro etc.... Kennedy was hardly diplomatic.
As far as the USSR, they had no desire to bomb us or attack us after the Cuban Missile Crisis -- after that both sides were weary about each others intentions.
On Saturday evening, after a day of tense discussions within the "ExComm" or Executive Committee of senior advisers, President Kennedy decided on a dual strategy—a formal letter to Khrushchev accepting the implicit terms of his October 26 letter (a U.S. non-invasion pledge in exchange for the verifiable departure of Soviet nuclear missiles), coupled with private assurances to Khrushchev that the United States would speedily take out its missiles from Turkey, but only on the basis of a secret understanding, not as an open agreement that would appear to the public, and to NATO allies, as a concession to blackmail. The U.S. president elected to transmit this sensitive message through his brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who met in his office at the Justice Department with Soviet ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin.

Rockett, I have seen time and time again over 46 years of active duty or working for the army as a civilian, the State Department turn down extra security. They turn it down even when the threat is very real. State thinks their job is diplomacy and visa’s, talk and they also think have a bunch of military around them, who’s job in State’s perception is to kill people and break things deters them from doing their job.
So did State turn down more security even if asked by an Ambassador, it wouldn’t surprise me. State has done this throughout many, many administrations going back to LBJ for me. It is the mentality of the State Department, diplomacy over security. At least that has been my personal experience.

What do I have to say . . . what had to happen in order for me to come out of this clean? Whatever that is? That's what happened and that's exactly what I'll say.
