Since Horowitz has failed to confirm right wing conspiracy theories, Barr is having what is known in the psychiatric profession as a "boo hoo." Sadly for him, the IG operates independently of DOJ leadership, so Barr cannot change the findings.

But as has already been noted previously, Barr does have authority over his famed "Durham report," which he can present as (entirely nebulously) supporting right wing conspiracy theories.

Neither. He won’t fear the IG report because it doesn’t confirm right wing conspiracy theories, and he won’t fear Barr’s report because it will be too nebulous to result in fines, prosecution or any other penalties. It’s technically possible that Barr will have uncovered that Comey looked at porn on a company computer, and that would certainly be embarrassing.

Horowitz is obviously part of the deep state. I bet Trump never even met the guy and that people are saying that he was involved in some very bad things.

Nice porn Strawman. The IG will do the same as he has done in the past. He will give a scathing rebuke of the crappy job Comey did. Now Barr is looking into the origin of the investigation and has done an investigation of his own. It appears he and assumably Durham think something about the origin of the Russia investigation isn’t right. And that very possibly will lead to indictments and not just a scathing rebuke.
 

And when the feared Durham report fails to deliver, will you finally accept that the Russian investigation was legit? Or will you go to your death bed certain that Detective SLC knows better than everyone else?

That's why I'm starting to think much of MAGA is not delusions, but is "permission slips". How can anyone justify bringing a foreign power into our electoral process? Hard to do, unless you invent a permission slip!

The greatest mistake President Trump made was believing Obama appointees were anything but totally corrupt partisan politicians who don't give a damn about the United States, laws or truth. Rather, they are partisan hacks, which is why Obama appointed him.

Shouldn't Barr openly be Trump's "wingman" like Obama's AG bragged he was as his job - do anything to the DOJ to protect Obama politically and legally every way possible?

Not wanting to argue detail as we sometimes do ... but it's not delusion (at least by most).

The politicos & Trump-GOP media are doing this with purposeful intent, not through misbelief. And, I believe many Trumpers are cognizant of this. A permission slip is not about believing a false fact, but rather about using it to justify unacceptable behaviour.

Permission slips in original political context were used to justify not voting for black candidates. Rather than admit you would not vote for a black candidate, you claimed you could not vote for a guy that did [insert falsity]. This is what I believe is happening here with Trump in many instances - just in reverse fashion. Instead of permission to not vote for a candidate, it is permission to not condemn and withdraw support as Trump commits otherwise unacceptable behaviour.
 
Title should read "Obama appointee disagrees with the US Attorney General."

Folks, enough of this prattle. It is obvious to all except the lame that Bill Barr is not the AG for the American people but is simply a lawyer for Trump. He is nothing more than a yes man for Trump.

Barr should be the People's wingman, not Trump's.
 

I don’t have a lot of energy to ponder whether the falsity is deliberate or a demonstration of delusion. It’s almost certainly both, though.

Yes, agreed.

"Permission slip" is an old term that I know goes back to just after Civil Rights. It may even go back further, but I'm not aware. However today, it is possible some are too lacking to understand it's an invented falsehood for their purpose! So much for evolution of the species!

So you KNOW no indictments will come out of the Durham investigation? Are you confident enough in that position to make a friendly wager?
