Azerbaijan has stepped up its public relations campaign, engaging not one, but six large firms, including Livingston Group, Stellar Jay Communications, BGR, Podesta Group and DLA Piper. Last year, Baku spent $ 1.3 million on lobbying.
Armenia traditionally uses only one firm working for them - Alston and Bird. At the same time, Yerevan has not spent any money on lobbying since 2016.
Azerbaijani lobbyists use the following publications that publish articles with propaganda in Baku without indicating a financial connection with it: The Hill, The Washington Times, The Daily Caller, National Review, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.
At present, Baku is pushing the theses that "Armenia is an aggressor and that the United States should support Azerbaijan in the conflict." The documents distributed on Capitol Hill emphasize the "provocative actions" of Armenia, its "illegal" role in the conflict, accusations that Armenia allegedly "kills Azerbaijani civilians, including children", and how "the leaders of Armenia are actively undermining ongoing peace process ".
In addition, it is said that "Turkey is not directly involved and is not a party to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict." However, Ankara is actively involved in the conflict and has sent over 1,000 jihadists from Syria to aid Azerbaijan.
The information war of the opposing sides in Nagorno-Karabakh against the background of hostilities is going on on a large scale. There is a struggle to attract sympathy and to seek active help from global world actors. At the same time, those who should immediately stop the war, get off with statements about their concern about the unfolding violence in Nagorno-Karabakh. Nobody is taking real action. The practice of outside observation of the death of people on the periphery of a well-fed life in the world is gaining momentum. The indifference at the level of world leaders is striking.
And in those minutes, while you were reading this text, 10 people died in Karabakh!
