Economic Bad Times Just Beginning

A couple of weeks ago, I was honored to attend a private gathering of influential conservative leaders just outside Washington, D.C. While many differences of opinion were expressed on a variety of subjects, there was one subject on which every single attendee was unequivocally united: the US economy is soon going to tank! As one man said, “In a couple of years, these could be the ‘good old days.’” Another thing the august assembly was agreed on was that the only Presidential candidate in the two major parties who would actually have the guts to do what needs to be done is Congressman Ron Paul. And the national press corps (including FOX News) is doing everything in its power to make sure that the American people do not hear much of what Dr. Paul has to say for that very reason.

Neither the Democrat nor Republican parties in Washington, D.C., have any intention of addressing the real reasons why the American economy is on the verge of collapse. The only thing the two major parties--and the elites who dominate them--can see is the next election. The lust for power is the one thing that both the Donkeys and the Elephants share in common. And neither party is willing to disappoint their constituents who are feeding at the teat of that fat hog known as Washington, D.C.

This thread will likely end up locked for violations, but I did want to say that I agree with a large portion of this article. No one knows exactly when this crash will take place, but I have heard that the US has enough leeway to give us at least another two to five years. I HOPE we have that long. If it's within the next two years, I believe my family and I are essentially doomed. We are preparing, BUT we need more time. I don't think most people have the guts or the foresight to admit that the US economy is currently hanging over a cliff by a thin thread. If I believed in God, I would be saying: "God help us all."

Yeah, unless you are Mr Baldwin or have obtained express written consent, it's generally frowned upon to "reprint" someone's entire article.

I am stocking up on ammo seed and other essentials, I hope I am wrong.

Me, too. We're trying to set up a "bug out" location. We plan to raise chickens, rabbits, whatever we can. Guns, ammo, knives, be sure to load up on ammo that will be effective against larger game, as well as capable of piercing vehicles if necessary.

Re-elect no one. Replace all current office holders with new faces. Tell everyone to not vote for incumbants. If there are no good-ol' boys in congress to mess-up the freshmen who enter, perhaps we can start fresh and maybe even begin to balance the budget. Bring our troops home now. Stop the military industrial complex from grabbing even more...and the means to do that is with YOUR vote.

I generally agree with the article. It'll be months, however, not years before the fit hits the shan.

The bastards who allowed Wall Street to ravage the nation are not the people who are able or willing to resolve the economic crisis - however most voters, including most everyone here, will continue to vote for the same bastards! Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results is insane. People like Ron Paul or Gary Johnson or Dennis Kucinich will never get traction from the corpgov system. Corpgov is in business to self perpetuate. Congress is clueless as to how to turn things around. Even if Congress had a clue the system would thwart efforts to change.

Truth be known, Washington is NOT getting a fix it or else message from most voters. History and current voter behavior tells Washington that they'll all be re-elected no matter what. And you know - they will!

Pray, my American brothers, that the poles would shift and wipe out all this BS away. The survivors will build the new world.

BULL... It isn't Paul's economic policies that make him an obscure candidate that the press ignores. It's his "blame America" attitude and isolationism platform on foreign policy, along with a nice portion of "conspiracy kook" mixed in, that makes him a joke to the media and most Americans. To top it off, when you throw in the fact that for more than 10 years, his racially charged "Ron Paul Newsletters" pandered to skin heads, racists and white supremacists groups, you're left with a candidate that shouldn't be taken seriously by the press, or anyone else for that matter.

The fact is, his economic policies are probably the most sound and appealing part of Paul's campaign platform. So anyone who claims that to be the reason Paul is ignored by the media, has either never watched him in a debate and has no clue who Paul really is, or is one of his nutty supporters who's in some very serious denial.

Why do you say "months"? I guess what I am asking is: what are you basing that estimation on? The US does have a lot of leeway. Maybe not five years worth, but surely enough for at least two years. I need more time. :(

Here's an interesting clip from someone I've been following on youtube.

She's an RN, and a "prepper."

I recognize that the US or even the world could go all to hell at any time, but people have been predicting that for decades, and it ain't happened yet, so I ain't gonna get my panties all up in a wad over it.

Is she stoned?

Are you serious!?
The zombie Apocalypse is coming!?

Why would you assume that? If there's something she said that you disagree with, why not just discuss that?
I don't think she said anything controversial or that I disagree with. I think she estimates the imminence of impending doom differently than I do, but that's not what I am talking about.

She just reminded me of someone who was stoned. And she had on those weird glasses.
Idk. She just seemed stoned to me. Not really about what she was saying.

oh, right. You're still waiting for Obama to save us. :lamo

The sun glasses were probably to protect her identity.

Europe, the market here, Obama's insistence on listening to the same fools who failed us from the beginning. I'm guess first quarter of next year if there is not a national disaster before then. I very much hope I am nothing but wrong.

I agree with all of that. However, I think you're overlooking the fact that the US has much more leeway financially because of the fact that we are both a parasite and a vital organ to the rest of the world. The international community needs more time to dump American currency and if they do so overnight, they essentially screw themselves as much as they screw us. Imo, there will be a global depression soon. When the US goes down the toilet, so do many other countries. That's the price of the world becoming less isolated and more internationalized. I hope like hell we have at least two more years. I don't know about you, but I desperately need more time to prep for disaster. Without that time, I will have to become a monster to survive and keep my kids alive.

Why does "Patriot Nurse" need her identity protected?

You may want to expand the people you gather with because it is rather doubtful if it is only Ron Paul's policies who could pull the US out of its economic slump.

evanescence, that woman is a crackpot. I have been forwarded her videos before and, without exception, every single one of her catastrophic predictions has been wrong. People like her on youtube are a dime a dozen.

The truth is that no one knows for sure what is going to happen. Many people are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. I have to admit, I'm happy that my work has taken me out of the U.S. for the next 6-8 months. Whenever I'm home it feels tense.

Our country will survive, but I have a sinking feeling that a lot of people are about to die. This is just a feeling and I have no proof of it, but it's something I can't ignore.

What predictions would those be? I'm just curious. I'd never heard of her or of the "prepper" movement before this thread but I know people who are part of it, I guess. They have weapons and ammo buried in PVC pipe and thousands of dollars in cash stashed and easily accessed. They really do think the time is coming when it's "Kill or be killed" (for various reasons--civil war and EMP catastrophe, deliberate or cosmic, to name two).

I don't know. Someone said she looked high because of her sunglasses so i was just speculating.

What predictions? She only talks about how to prepare. That's all. And if you seriously think everything will be fine..please. By all means- carry on. Ignorance is bliss. I will agree that no one knows when things will get bad, as I have already pointed out, but the fact is, things will get bad. It's the cycle of life. If it's not the economy, it will be oil shortages. The normalcy bias is alive and strong, I see.
