How do I change a picture's resolution so I can actually change my avatar? I've looked around and can find nothing that will actually fit.

If you open the pic in windows picture editor, you can usually resize it. Or I think there are some websites where you can do it fairly easily.

You can do it in Microsoft Paint fairly easily. Open up your avatar file, click on "Image", then on "Resize/Skew". You can fiddle with the percentages until you come up with the right size.
