The Prime Minister and Parliament of Australia have called for the release of Julian Assange, with the Solicitor General of Australia saying that this has gone on long enough. Assange is currently being held in the UK. The government of the United States wants Assange extradited for information he posted on Wikileaks. What are your thoughts?

Assange should be extradited to the US for trial.

For those not familiar with the case, this video is one of the leaks provided by Assange which shows a US helicopter attack on Reuters News employees and their children. This video may be age restricted, requiring the viewer to watch at site of origin. It is highly recommended you do so.

Well geeeeee.....

I guess that settles it then.

Australia said something.

This video may prove more enlightening on the subject and not age restricted.

The people who brought us Rupert Murdoch want us to release Assange so he can team up with Musk, Snowden and Putin.
Yeah great idea.

President Biden may be canceling the indictment of Julian Assange, following a request from Australia, the defendant's home country. Asked about Australia's request at the White House, Biden replied, "We are considering it." This is a major breakthrough.

Donald Trump to give 'very serious consideration' to pardoning WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange

if he wins US election

Two perfect Putin BFF, Trump & Assange.

Last month the Westminster Magistrates Court in London ruled Assange can appeal his extradition to the USA where he is up on Espionage charges.

The court halted the extradition order by another court, subject to a further appeal by Assange. This court said it does not accept assurances by the US Department of Justice that Putin's BFF Assange would not receive the death penalty -- and assurances that Assange the nasty Australian America Hater and a Putin BFF would in fact be granted equal First Amendment rights of US citizens.

It is fact the Putin BFF Assange has a criminal cruelty of hate against the United States and the West.

The USG has indeed made Assange's criminal life the hell it deserves to be for the past 12 years with more to come given Assange's new appeal rights in the UK courts. Assange spent 7 years self shut away in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and the past 5 years in a London jail where he remains and belongs. It's reported Assange who is in fact a Putin BFF has insomnia and several other disorders that have him out of sorts. It couldn't happen to a lifelong nastier guy.

Well Australia got it's way, but it wasn't a huge favor they were asking. Assange has served his time, and an Australian court would not even have sentenced him to that long.

It would have been really ugly if a US court had got ahold of Assange and sentenced him to life (or death). It would send a terrible message to US allies.

Yeah great idea.

Still bearing a grudge for how Wikileaks screwed Hillary Clinton, I guess.

Or perhaps you're on the wrong side of National Security/Open Government.

Our governments keep many secrets from us. Some of those are necessary BUT when we give government the power to make its action secret, of course they will hide war crimes, electoral skulduggery, and plain failure by government.

Government without whistleblowers looks a lot like fascism. Corporatism without whistleblowers looks a lot like plutocracy.

The US more than any country on earth, can afford to sacrifice a little "temporary security" (military operations) for "essential liberties" (citizens knowing what government is doing.) If the American people cannot tolerate this slight infringement of their national security, perhaps they deserve neither security nor liberty.

I have a feeling there's a pretty well-established system for Australia requesting the extradition of someone from the UK so this will go through that.
I can't see any reason to deny the request if Australia meet all the legal requirements which I have no doubt they will.
Australia doesn't have the death sentence which was why the UK didn't extradite him to the US as it's against the law to send anyone to a country where they may be executed as the death penalty was outlawed in the UK a long time ago.

The USG assured the UK Government and the UK Commonwealth Government of Australia it would not seek the death penalty for Assange. And that Assange the Australian national would be granted all the rights of a US citizen in a court of US law which is generous indeed.

UK courts went back and forth for years on years tossing around the USG extradition request which resulted in the settlement that returned Assange to Australia after the Aussie parliament and prime minister requested his return. The US, UK and Australia being super tight allies agreed on the settlement by which Assange pleaded guilty in a US District Court to espionage against the United States.

Assange the America Hater is a Putin BFF from way back who Putin gave a national tv talk show that was broadcast from Moscow and in which Assange ranted and raged against the United States. Assange lovers are still bent out of shape over Assange spending 8 years in a UK prison for being a fugitive from UK justice after having been given sanction in the London embassy of Uruguay. Fugitive from justice, yes. America Hater, yes. With his supporters, yes.

Assange and his loyalty and commitment to Putin against the US and NATO, Europe and democracy pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court of espionage against the United States.

Assange the America Hater had already spent 8 years in a UK prison as a fugitive from justice while losing his arrogant and already deranged mind because he could not attack and destroy the United States. The US and UK got him good so let's see now if this took the America Hating stuffing out of him. I'm certain it has done this as the Australian government will not allow him to disturb the United States again. Which leaves Assange as just another in the long history of so many convicts in Australia.
