"I believe it was an accident. I believe that it just got out of control and he couldn't turn the clock back."
Here's the full statement:
Earlier today, I made a comment to the media that was later mischaracterized. When I referenced the word 'accident' today with regard to Trayvon's death, in NO way did I mean the shooting was an accident.
We believe that George Zimmerman stalked my son and murdered him in cold blood. The 'accident' I was referring to was the fact that George Zimmerman and my son ever crossed paths. It was an accidental encounter. If George Zimmerman hadn't gotten out of his vehicle, this entire incident would have been avoided.
My son was profiled, followed and murdered by George Zimmerman, and there was nothing accidental about that.
It seems illogical to be "pissed off" by something a distraught mother says when she's not a professional spokesperson and likely feeling a lot of emotions. She said something. She says the meaning of her statement was misinterpreted. She corrected it. The only way I could see someone being "pissed off" about that is if the mother just isn't saying what they want her to say.Okay, this pisses me off.
This morning on the Today show, Trayvon Martin's mom was interviewed about her son's death. She said:
I heard her say it. I thought it was the right thing to say, that she was sincere, and as honest a comment as I've heard on this issue.
Now this, a retraction:
U.S. News - Update: Trayvon Martin's mom retracts 'accident' characterization, says Zimmerman killed him in 'cold blood'
Anyone want to bet she was contacted by prosecutors? By Al Sharpton? By Jesse Jackson?
This sucks wind.
I don't get it either.Okay, this pisses me off.

Besides, her clarification is more in line with her earlier statements.
The meaning of her statement wasn't misinterpreted. She said what she said. You, of all people, TPD, should get that...except when you choose not to apparently.
She just lost her son. It's a traumatic experience and yes it is illogical for you to be "pissed off," no matter the semantics of what she says publicly. If you had any empathy and common sense, you'd see she's going through a tough time right now. Big deal if she retracted her statement. Doesn't change that her son is dead.
Empathy and common sense have nothing to do with it.
She was coached.
The first statement was from her heart. The second? Notsomuch.
I just watched the segment where Mrs. Martin said what she did and I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing that she meant
"The 'accident' I was referring to was the fact that George Zimmerman and my son ever crossed paths."
She was refering to george zimmerman and the actions that happened (the shooting). Not the action of "crossing paths".
Edit note: Here's the segment for those that want to watch it...

I said the exact same thing. I even threw in the same suspects. Well done!Anyone want to bet she was contacted by prosecutors? By Al Sharpton? By Jesse Jackson? This sucks wind.
