Afghans who helped this country would likely be strung up by the Taliban. But trump is sending them back.

Why are the lives of drug cartel family members worth saving but not those of people who actually HELPED the USA?

Trump and MAGA are tacitly saying that family members of the sinister cartel that provides these drugs are somehow more worthy of protection than are Afghans who helped our military in that war.

What Trump is doing to Afghans and all the others is evil, but these family members will likely become witnesses for the government. Trump is trying to bring down the Sinaloa cartel for good.

Hard to believe with Trump, but there is rhyme and reason to this. Or it could just be more theater. Time will tell.

The purpose, an agreement to bring family members to the U.S. and provide for their safety in exchange for information, is obvious.

Looks the American journalist community has their work cut out, uncovering the details of whatever agreement has been brokered.

What does Biden have to do with the current administration removing those that assisted the US in the fight against terrorism?

The tourism industry in Mexico is booming, so why should cartel members be protected?

How much does chapo pay for a pardon? What about a pardon and assistance in removing any of his opposition, I mean cooperating with US authorities?

I doubt very much whether trump and his administration (or any American administration, but trump's is particularly inept) are going to be able to bring down one of the several powerful Mexican drug cartels.

Besides, even if Sinaloa is seriously damaged for a while, the distribution of the drugs will simply be taken up by the other cartels or by new players.

In the meantime, we're wasting taxpayers' monies on supporting and protecting family members of the very "terrorists" who. according to trump, are waging war against us. This makes no sense. (Plus, while I'm unusually cynical, there's always the possibility that at least some of these "family members" will carry on the family business HERE.)

Especially when the same American leader and his minions are withdrawing protection and support from those who actually need and deserve it.
 
I know folks don’t want to believe it, but Trump is running an organized crime syndicate out of the republican party.

This kind of move makes perfect sense once you understand that.

We couldn't "win" in Vietnam. We couldn't "win" in Iraq. We couldn't "win" in Afghanistan.

Why the heck does anyone think we can "win" in Mexico, against not one but many entrenched and powerful drug cartels?

They're all refugees who want asylum here in the USA. So, what makes Sinaloa Cartel "family members" more worthy of being saved and protected and financially provided for than Afghans who helped us in that country during wartime?

If they are going to testify for the government, then it makes perfect sense. They may be in protective custody for all we know.

Agree completely. Trump is evil. But this isn't what some are making it out to be.

El Chapo's brother is copping a plea. The family apparently was involved in the deal, but I don't see this as letting a gang family loose. There's more to this than we're being told.

Then again, this is Trump, so nothing would surprise me.

I'm very aware of the so-called reasoning behind providing protection and financial assistance to these people.

I'm also aware that trump is withdrawing protection for others at the same time and sending them back to face near-certain death.

Moreover, I've made it clear that I consider his goal of eradicating the Sinaloa Cartel as a fool's errand: it's in another country, it's entrenched, it's extremely powerful. PLUS, even if the near-impossible were to be accomplished, so what? There are other cartels who supply the same drugs. And we both know what trump and MAGA is ignoring: something always fills a vacuum.

Why the **** are we spending our resources on this AT THE SAME TIME we're shoving others out the door? What makes these people more important? We aren't going to stop the drug shipments to the USA. But now, we've made it easier for the Sinaloa Cartel to operate in the USA. AND we're paying them to be here.

At the same time we're forcing Afghans who helped us to go back to the Taliban.

This isn't right.

No one should be deported without due process. Trump has done things wrong and he has done some things right. It's not "blind support" to say so. Most things in life have gray areas. It most definitely is blind support and bowing down to a cult leader(s) to never criticize him/her/them and refuse to believe anything negative. This is where the tribalists sit today on the left and right. They do not dare say a word against their "team" and the other "team" is wrong about everything. That's just not logical, therefore, I sit at a different table.

Trump, his administration, his and Bondi's DOJ, and MAGA are not going to consider any of these things.

That means it's up to non-cult members to take them into consideration. Sure, we can't change trump's actions, but we don't have to give them or him any benefit of the doubt.
 
At this point nothing the democrats cans say or do can changes the mess they made of the country in the past 4 years. Lies, deceit, hatred, hiding the incapacitated state of the U.S. President and telling us he was super fine. Lies about Trump Russian collusion, ignoring Biden's 15+ years of having classified documents in his garage, his son taking money from our enemies, closing our schools, our churches, the lied about Covids origins. The list is endless. Nothing, literally nothing compares with what the democrats did to us. Just the constant diversion to hide the shit they pulled. Nobody has any faith in the democrats, and despite all the left says, they still have a lower approval rating than Trump.

It's obvious you have no clue re how these people are going to be supported financially. Do they have skills to get jobs? Will the cartel be sending them monthly stipends? Will taxpayers be footing their bills?

If you want to argue that these 17 "family members" will be in prisons here in the USA, say so. And try to make the case for it. Because nothing in the information available at this point indicates this will be the case.
