Associated Press: Mexican security chief confirms cartel family members entered US in a deal with Trump administration

We’ve all been arguing for weeks and you guys still haven’t figured out what due process is.

Interesting. You're arguing that gathering witnesses in order to build cases against alleged cartel leaders isn't engaging in due process. If building a legal, evidentiary-based case against those we plan to arrest and charge with crimes doesn't meet the criteria of due process, then what practices would meet the criteria in your opinion?

It seems to me that the sources are quoting a Mexican official, who perhaps is simply repeating what Sinaloa Cartel family members told him.

If there's disinformation, it can perhaps be attributed to trump's recently-designated "foreign terrorist group" that your party's leader claims is waging war against the USA.

Why on earth would the POTUS and CinC knowingly admit people associated with this terrorist group?

And how are these people going to support themselves here? By establishing new outlets for cartel products in the USA?

So you're basing your opinion on an article you think is mistaken or untruthful.

Have we learning nothing from the war on drugs?

Even if we could eliminate one of many drug cartels in Mexico, the demand in the USA will continue. That means supply will continue, too.

That's a good point. The demand has to stop before the black market goes away. But in the meanwhile, I don't think law enforcement is going to just forget about the cartels.

Either they cooperate or he'll expose the corruption (3:20). ;)

"....The blood of countless millions is on their hands...." though.

But he did say "....you have to take out their families...." right.

Fair enough, Josie. But if you and I were agree on this subject (and I do agree) and say "Hey, so long as the family members of drug cartel bosses are thoroughly vetted and pose no danger" then I would just take the next logical step and advocate for everyone to be allowed into the United States who is thoroughly vetted and poses no danger. And to be clear, if adult family members of the leader of a designated terrorist organization can pass that test, I would say 99.99% of all people wanting to move into the United States could. And because I am pro-immigration, I would want them welcomed in by those same standards. I want as many people who want to move to the United States and make a life for themselves to move in and contribute to our great nation to be able to do so. Again, so long as they are no more dangerous than the average adult family members of a terrorist organization's leader, that is. (y)

That would certainly cover the people I care about, i.e., Afghan refugees, Haitian refugees, Ukrainian refugees, and millions of others from across the world yearning for safety, freedom and prosperity.

I'm all for making it easier for people to legally enter the country. I care about them too - many of my students are refugees and immigrants.

The confirmation by García Harfuch came the same day the office of U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced it was charging a number of top cartel leaders with "narcoterrorism" for the first time since the Trump administration declared a number of cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. "Let me be direct, to the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, you are no longer the hunters, you are the hunted," U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon for the Southern District of California said. "You will be betrayed by your friends, you will be hounded by your enemies and you will ultimately find yourself and your face here in a courtroom in the Southern District of California."

Trump's administration making differences - winning for the USA and winning for the American people AND Mexico as well. The goal is to obliterate terrorist groups.

Well, that doubtlessly true, tharock220. But then, if your cartel aristocrat neighbors used their connections, bribery and chicanery and were able to use laundered cartel blood money to buy an EB-5 Visa or something similar, it is highly dubious that they came in through "legal" means, isn't it? No more than someone obtaining a visa or green card by fraud is here "legally" anyway.

My neighbors likely had little to do with it. The murdering, drug smuggling, money laundering family member isn't the one living there. It has always been easier for affluent foreigners to get into the US.

Be that as it may, I am of the opinion that so long as people have presented themselves for vetting and are found to be no more dangerous or criminal than your average cartel aristocrat, they should be given legal residency and allowed to start a new life in the United States, including working their way to citizenship.

We already do that. You're describing the current process.
