It seems to me that the sources are quoting a Mexican official, who perhaps is simply repeating what Sinaloa Cartel family members told him.

If there's disinformation, it can perhaps be attributed to trump's recently-designated "foreign terrorist group" that your party's leader claims is waging war against the USA.

Why on earth would the POTUS and CinC knowingly admit people associated with this terrorist group?


And how are these people going to support themselves here? By establishing new outlets for cartel products in the USA?
 
I think the reason they were allowed in is that the cartel agreed to henceforth call it the Gulf of America in their communications.

1. This seems to be part of a plea deal involving Cartel leadership
Which may be worthwhile

2. Progressive concern about who is crossing cannot be taken seriously.

YOU might not take "seriously" who is entering this country, but I sure am, when it comes to trump's allowing in those associated with the Sinaloa Cartel, which trump himself so recently designated as a "foreign terrorist group".

Given this reality, why on earth would trump bring them into this country?

And how are these 17 "family members" going to support themselves financially?

Or are taxpayers supposed to subsidize them?

No because these are not they are not refuges with asylum claims. These are non-criminal Guzman family members.
One more time for those in the cheap seats then:

Guzman has info on other cartel operations. In return for him giving US investigators ( not Mexican as Guzman is in US custody)
Guzman wants his non-criminal family to come into the USA for protection from revenge killing etc. of these other cartel members.

Since Mexico is a narco-state unable to protect anyone - much less high value targets like Guzman's family- it's what Guzman wants as part of his plea agreement .. this is very common in any criminal /conspiracy investigation

Really this is all there is to the to the OP.

That trump is willing to provide asylum - and, perhaps, financial assistance - to Sinaloa Cartel family members, who may or may not be members of that cartel, yet is refusing to do so for other groups (Afghan translators, Haitian refugees, everyone else seeking asylum), makes no sense whatsoever.

Btw, why are you okay with taxpayers' supporting these 17 "family members"? Are you also okay with taxpayers' financially supporting other asylum seekers? If not, what makes Sinaloa Cartel "family members" deserving of taxpayers' footing their bills?

the Guzman family members are not allowed in under migrant asylum claims that flooded the border under Biden
The DoJ or whatever US criminal enforcement agency is making a quid pro quo only to these family members because it gets Guzman to give up his info on "other cartels"

They might be in protective custody, they may not. Considering Biden let in about 7 million migrants- many unable to support themselves-
no im not concerned in the least. Again this a a common tactic when a high value criminal (Guzman) is willing to trade his info on a criminal organization in return for protecting his family -which Mexico is incapable of doing

No, it doesn't state that. All we have is the statement that there are no outstanding warrants. That sure as hell doesn't mean all of the 17 "family members" of the sinister Sinaloa Cartel that is currently waging war on the US and on Americans are not criminals.

If you can't answer that, aren't you admitting taxpayers will pay for their upkeep? Or are you acknowledging that perhaps more US outlets for distribution of the cartel's drug business will be opened?

Or if we're going to provide asylum for family members of the drug-dealing Sinaloa Cartel, why on earth aren't we doing the same thing for other asylum seekers?

Why are Afghans who helped us being deported?
 
Looks like El Chapo's brother is gonna cop a plea, roll, and his family is protected, also expected to roll.

I have no issue with the operation, except for the secrecy. We need to work with other countries, and now that everyone is here, a public announcement is due.

I've already said the Mexican authorities say there are no warrants. I have, however, pointed out that that in itself doesn't mean there is no criminality attached to any of the 17 "family members" of the very sinister, very dangerous, very violent Sinaloa Cartel.

What you aren't addressing is this:

How are these people going to be financially supported in this country?

Taxpayers?

Traditional Sinaloa Cartel drug deals?
