Mexico’s government has confirmed reports that 17 family members of the son of a former cartel leader crossed into the United States.

Okay, so now after all the ginned-up Republican uproar over the crisis at the border, the dangers presented by the drug, gun and human traffickers of Mexican Cartels, the violations of due process of citizens and immigrants in the United States, the suspension of status for Afghan and Haitian refugees, and ignoring orders of the Supreme Court...after all that, the Trump Administration is now apparently specifically importing the families of Sinaloa cartel members into the United States.

If this is confirmed to be true, this is insane. I mean, what, did the Sinaloa Cartel promise to allow the Trump Organization to build a new resort on Cartel territory in exchange for the boss's wife and kids being allowed to come to the United States?

Damn. It wasn't enough that Mexico wasn't sending us thier best, according to Trump. Now we are actively bringing cartel members' family into the US?
 
Sounds like trump is selling us out to those cartels that are "waging war" against the USA.

I recall something about an American President's designating the Sinaloa Cartel as a terrorist group.

But now another POTUS is allowing members of said terrorist group to enter the USA?

I really wish the Executive Branch(es) would get its/their act together....

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is true - our POTUS is very transactional.

“It is evident that his family is going to the U.S. because of a negotiation or an offer that the Department of Justice is giving him,” Garcia Harfuch said.

He said that none of the family members were being pursued by Mexican authorities and that the government of U.S. President Donald Trump “has to share information” with Mexican prosecutors, something it has not yet done.

The confirmation by García Harfuch comes the same day that the U.S. Attorney General’s Office announced it was charging a number of top cartel leaders with “narcoterrorism” for the first time since the Trump administration declared a number of cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

While prosecutors declined to comment on the video of the family, U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon for the Southern District of California and other officials sent a warning to cartel members, repeatedly citing the Sinaloa Cartel by name.

“Let me be direct, to the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, you are no longer the hunters, you are the hunted. You will be betrayed by your friends, you will be hounded by your enemies, and you will ultimately find yourself and your face here in a courtroom in the Southern District of California,” Gordon said.

He characterized the transfer of El Chapo’s relatives as part of a “negotiation” between the U.S. Justice Department and representatives of one of El Chapo’s sons, Ovidio Guzmán López, who faces drug smuggling and other charges in federal court in Chicago.

Guzmán López was initially arrested in a 2019 military raid that sparked gun battles paralyzing the city of Culiacán, prompting then-President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to order him freed in a bid to end the violence. He was rearrested in 2023 in a second bloody operation that left at least 29 dead, including 10 Mexican soldiers. Mexico extradited him to the United States in September 2023 to face drug trafficking charges.

Guzmán López, 35, known as El Ratón (“The mouse”), plans to change his not guilty plea to guilty, according to court papers, but the terms of his potential plea deal remain publicly unknown. A court hearing is set for July 9 in federal court in Chicago.

“As we saw in the news, Ovidio begins a negotiation with the Department of Justice of the United States and it’s evident that, [with] his family going to the United States, it’s because of that negotiation,” García Harfuch told Mexico’s Radio Formula....

The same President who renditioned alleged members of one cartel-designated-as-a-foreign-terrorist-group to indefinite incarceration in a foreign hellhole is now allowing members of another cartel-designated-as-a-foreign-terrorist-group to enter the USA.

Right? So they're building a case and negotiating with witnesses to nab the biggest fish in the cartel. How is this shocking to anyone? It's not like this hasn't been going on for decades with the witness protection program.
