. . . you give it power to do things TO you." - Albert Jay Nock

Below are some of my favorite quotes regarding the relationship between government power and Liberty:

"Giving money and power to the government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys." - P.J. O'Rourke

"Your government sees you as a milk cow. If things get tough for them, they will treat you like a beef cow." - Doug Casey

"Many people want the government to protect the consumer. A much more urgent problem is to protect the consumer from the government." - Milton Friedman

"Liberty and freedom are inversely proportional to government power." - Me

"A man's natural rights are his own, against the whole world; and any infringement of them is equally a crime, whether committed by one man, or by millions; whether committed by one man, calling himself a robber, or by millions, calling themselves a government." - Lysander Spooner

"Governments don't want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking... They want obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept it." - George Carlin

Brought to you by the party that is currently trying to turn the country into The Handmaid's Tale.

The Libertarian Party?

WUT???

What is your favorite quote about government legislation of a woman's uterus?

There aren't any quotes because there isn't any government legislation of a woman's uterus (at the federal level, anyways).

Those are some really ignorant quotes.

Speaks to our failing society where 40% of the country no longer values truth or education.

An accurate Republican uterus quote would be "It's your uterus to pay for, but men will write the bill."

One of my favorite quotes is that public health doubled life expectancy in 100 years.

So you are in favor of state government but not federal?
The U.S. Constitution makes no mention of reproductive rights, so therefore reproductive rights must be [and IS being] legislated at the State level.

Many states are adding the Right to abortion in their respective State Constitutions.

I think you need to reread your favorite quotes again. Have a good one.

Why is this one of you favorite quotes?

BTW, I have never read that however modern medicine has extended life from 1900 to 2000 remarkably.
From 40 something to nearly 80 I belive.

I just them again. They are all very good, but mine is the best,( in my opinion):

"Liberty and freedom are inversely proportional to government power." - Sky Chief

The fact that abortion is being dictated at the state level by conservatives doesn't mean that the regulation isn't occurring, or any less onerous, but you dont want to admit that. This is more libertarian denialism.

The right to abortion was federally protected but conservatives repealed it as a gift to religious conservatives. Where was the libertarian outrage about the Hobbs decision?

Maybe you and others wouldn't feel that way if you didn't view the government as the enemy not to be trusted. It can't be trusted most because of republicans going back to nixon and ending, so far, with trump.

I'm libertarian - I cannot speak for conservatives.

Technically no. Roe v. Wade was not a "federal protection" - - it was a Supreme Court ruling. Which was subsequently overturned. There are no provisions in the U.S. Constitution which protect the right to abortion, therefore it must be legislated at the state level.
Where was the libertarian outrage about the Hobbs decision?
I'm not familiar with the Hobbs decision.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."

- Benjamin Franklin
You like to post troll comments. Good to know!

The government lies all the time - when it suits them. Nobody should be expected to trust a government that lies to them.

"No government, any more than an individual, will long be respected without being truly respectable; . . . " - James Madison

It can't be trusted most because of republicans going back to nixon and ending, so far, with trump.
When the government DOES things to citizens, it is always BAD. Libertarians just want government to respect and protect the Individual's Right to Life, Liberty and Property. We're adults, and don't need the government to watch over us, or give us things that we don't want or need.

". . . government is not the solution to our problem, government IS the problem." - Ronald Reagan

The SCOTUS is one of the 3 equal branches of the federal government. Why should I continue to reply to you if this is not understood by you? This is middle school government concept.

If abortion was mentioned verbatim in the US Constitution that it would have never been a SCOTUS issue. JFC! The Roe decision existed because there were 50 different states level decisions on abortion and it was ripe for a SCOTUS ruling if abortion was a right or not. We are not 50 different independent states with a weak federal government as a federation. That idea was tried with the Articles of Confederation but it was scrapped in 1780s because the government was so weak to be ineffective. This is why we have the US Constitution that creates a strong federal government and 50 weaker states that are subservient to the federal government. Article 6 Clause 2 of the Constitution makes this very clear. It is known as the Supremacy Clause that states that the laws of the federal government are supreme to states level laws. The Constitution would be meaningless and unenforceable if it didn't exist.

The right to body autonomy that is at the corer of the right to abortion is the most basic concept of personal freedom. If we do not control our bodies and have the right to make personal decisions of medical care and reproduction protected from government interference then the freedom of speech, religion, assembly, redress, and owning a firearm are irrelevant.

Do you need for me to explain what the basic concept of personal freedom is or can you misunderstand that all by yourself? (sarc, obviously)

I'm not familiar with the Hobbs decision.
That is very obvious, shockingly so.

And there you have it, the government is your enemy, just like I said.
