John Kelly, the Trump White House’s longest-serving chief of staff, said that he believed that Donald Trump met the definition of a fascist.
Few top officials spent more time behind closed doors in the White House with President Donald J. Trump than John F. Kelly, the former Marine general who was his longest-serving chief of staff.
With Election Day looming, Mr. Kelly — deeply bothered by Mr. Trump’s recent comments about employing the military against his domestic opponents — agreed to three on-the-record, recorded discussions with a reporter for The New York Times about the former president, providing some of his most wide-ranging comments yet about Mr. Trump’s fitness and character.
Up to now, I was disappointed that Kelly and most of Trump's other high officials weren't willing to go on the record with what they believed about Trump. Now Kelly has.

Those kinds of slams might be more impressive had we not seen Democratic attempts to put him on trial (and the president himself tonight said that he should be locked up), keeping him of the ballot; trying to ruin his company.

But other than that, Trump is the real danger...🙄

Disgruntled employees will disgruntle...especially for political purposes.

Kelly should agree to at least one television interview with a respected journalist.

Doing so would be far more impactful than simply being quoted in an article or on-air by a talking head.

Other former senior Traitor Trump administration officials that have gone on record against re-electing the disgraced former POTUS, but not publicly, should do the same.

Kelly is a life long patriot and a straight shooter.

Trump is a draft dodger, life long con man, convicted felon and serial liar.

It shouldn’t be too hard for people to figure out who to believe.

For criminal conduct and when Trump’s delay tactics ran out on the first to go to trial he was convicted of 34 felonies.

(and the president himself tonight said that he should be locked up),

Gee did Trump ever say that about his opponent?

keeping him of the ballot; trying to ruin his company.

I assume you mean the criminal enterprise that sacrificed the accountant to a jail cell to save the mob boss.
But other than that, Trump is the real danger...🙄
You got the bolded part correct.

It will be interesting to see what the military does if Trump is elected. Their allegiance is to the Constitution, not the Commander-in-Chief. When Trump orders them to round up his political enemies, what will they choose to do?

The entire group of top brass should have a town hall and let the public know what fascism is and what it will mean for the American people. Sure, most MAGA are all for a Trump dictatorship, for the implementation of Christian Nationalism via P2025, but a 2-hour presentation on a CNN forum would allow people on the fence to understand what is at stake. Harris campaign money can easily pay for it.

It's the eleventh hour. It appears Harris is losing. Take the gloves off and swing.

Wrong. People need to stop pedaling this bullshit.

We've heard all this stuff so many times we just don't care anymore.

Sorry dude. Harris is losing. And the margin continues to grow. As unthinkable as it is, unless a miracle happens, Trump will be dictatoring soon. American electorate is to blame.

With the margins in battleground states being as tight as they are, mostly shifting by small fractions of a point, I don’t agree that Harris is “losing”, but it is clear that her momentum has slowed.

A town hall event on ABC, CBS, or NBC may draw a larger audience than on CNN, and inviting only a handful of the highest ranking officials who had the most direct interactions Traitor Trump would be more effective, IMO.

True.

After nearly a decade of being subjected to a virtually constant bombardment of lies, conspiracy theories, and hate fueled divisive rhetoric, Americans have become inured to Traitor Trump’s most shocking language and actions.

Indeed. In my experience, the officer corp was heavily weighted toward conservative and Republican.

Of course, Trump is neither, really. Traditional conservative Republicans honor the law, free markets, small government, and freedom overseas. Trump mocks all of that.

Hopefully, the American electorate is wise enough not to elect this proto-fascist.

tbf

Trump himself said
the government should confiscate American's guns when the government lacks the right to do so
Trump himself said
the government should confiscate American's guns before any due process

Does that sound like the thoughts of someone who understands or values the 2nd Amendment to you?

Or does that sound a teensy bit authoritarian?

Amazing how almost all the people that worked with him, don't support him anymore. Logical people would read that as a very bad sign.

I don't doubt your posts as an accomplished career officer (Navy) but according to the Military Times only poll of all the active duty armed forces the vast majority of the officer corps across all services are "unfavorable" toward Trump.

60% of all commissioned officers across all the active duty services were "unfavorable" toward Trump as Commander in Chief and president, as of the 2020 election. Only 35% of active duty officers across all the services viewed Trump favorably.

Moreover, 8% more of enlisted personnel viewed Trump unfavorably than those enlisted who viewed Trump "favorably." Plus there are 12% more men Active Duty Members who viewed Trump unfavorably than men ADM who viewed Trump favorably.

Moreover, the final 2020 MT poll found Biden plus +4 over Trump among all the ADM registered to vote.

It needs to be said btw that roughly 40% of all ADM are never registered to vote. This chart is the breakdown of the roughly 60% of ADM who are registered to vote. The highest voter participation rate of turnout occurred in 2020 when 52% of the ADM registered voters voted.

And here's the MT favorable / unfavorable in each of the military services, as of 2020 by Army, Navy, AF, Marines. What's unfortunate is the mass of the Marine Corps who adore Trump.

Still, it is evident the majority of the ADM are not Republicans. This is especially true due to the fact roughly 40% of all ADM are never registered to vote (37% in 2020). This of course means that between the Democrat and the Republican -- the two party vote -- whichever "wins the military vote" gets a small slice of the total ADM that are in fact only the roughly 60% who are registered to vote. The winner getting 51% of the two party vote from among the 60% of ADM registered to vote is not by any means based on the 100% of all ADM.
