Armageddon: Should You Fear It?

what if we called him tree or frog or donkey or Trump or joe shit the ragman........words are words......they are insignificant
Are they? Jesus didn't think so...

"Offspring of vipers, how can you speak good things when you are wicked? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." Matthew 12:34

that is exactly my point

He did indeed, the other fears you mention, happen every day.
True, they've always occurred but Jesus said as time grows shorter, such occurrences would be like a woman with birth pangs...coming on closer together and much stronger, more intense...does that not explain what we see happening now?

Do you believe God will sink a third of the ships at sea, and cause a third of the stars to fall to Earth ?

That does not support calling god Jehovah.

You do realize Revelation is a vision given to John by Jesus Christ...a vision is symbolic, a representation...in the Scriptures spirit creatures are at times referred to as stars...

“When the morning stars joyfully cried out together, and all the sons of God began shouting in applause.” Job 38:7

They are fittingly referred to as stars, for they reside in the spiritual heavens, just as literal stars are in the literal heavens or sky...Revelation 12:4 refers to those spirit creatures who became demons by reason of their deflection, which was caused by Satan...the fall of these stars refers to their loss of the ability to shine anymore...

As for one third, it appears to be a symbolic way of stating that a considerable number were involved, and yet less than half, and therefore definitely a minority...in Revelation the expression “third” occurs repeatedly, in relation to the earth, the trees, the sea, the boats and creatures in the sea, the waters, the sun, the moon, the stars, the day and the men...Revelation 8:7-12; 9:15

No

And yet Revelations is where the JW religion gets it precise number or 144,000 chosen ones form. I guess you get to pick and choose what is real and what is symbolic. So much for being a vision and symbolic. Seems they can't make up their minds. Is it real? Or is it symbolic? Only the JW's know for sure.

Um yes...

“For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress." Matthew 24:7,8

In the original Greek, the word rendered “pangs of distress” literally means “pangs of birth.” (Matthew 24:8, Kingdom Interlinear) This suggests that like birth pangs, the world’s problems will increase in frequency, intensity, and duration, climaxing in the great tribulation.

Yes, that is where discernment is needed...

"Then I saw, and look! the Lamb+ standing on Mount Zion,+ and with him 144,000+ who have his name and the name of his Father+ written on their foreheads." Revelation 14:1

Revelation speaks of ONE LAMB, being Jesus Christ, in the same verse as the 144,000, so discernment tells us both numbers in this verse are literal...

That is making two assumptions that are not valid. 1) That the JW's interpretation of the passages are correct and 2) That the bible is actually true. If the bible is false, which the New Testament is, then the assumptions based on it are false too.

You do realize Revelation is a vision given to John by Jesus Christ...a vision is symbolic, a representation...in the Scriptures spirit creatures are at times referred to as stars...

So you get to claim that some of it is literally true, and other parts are metaphorical ?

My question still stands unanswered: "Do you believe God will sink a third of the ships at sea, and cause a third of the stars to fall to Earth ?"

Stars reside in galaxies. Early and medieval Christians might have believed they were simply celestial decoration - there are Catholic art works depicting angels lighting up the stars as servants in a castle might light up candles...they were of course wrong

So you claim that the third of stars that will fall to the Earth, are not really stars ?
ie: suns, but some kind of metaphorical celestial decoration ?

Just ONE star falling to Earth would end all life on our planet
Conclusively proving that the writers of the Bible were ignorant of the universe

What about sinking one third of the ships at sea ?

And I answered...you just don't understand it...

In your other post you said Revelation was a symbolic vision. Can't have it both ways.

You didn't answer anything, you just contradicted yourself and then claimed to know better. But you don't demonstrate that you do. Then you blame others for not understanding your contradictions and utter nonsense. You speak gibberish and say no one can understand it.

The number is symbolic, period. You didn't explain at all how the number isn't when the entire context is symbolic and it is all a symbolic vision.

In your other post you said Revelation was a symbolic vision. Can't have it both ways.
And I explained to you why this particular verse is to be taken literally...
