Arizona's novel solution to teacher benefits...

Yes, and if your boss decides he doesn't like you, you become homeless at the same time you lose your job.
It would have to be set up with an independent party that overseas the rental. It would not be that hard to do.
How is this differential calculus? Have you never read any history from the end of the civil war until world war I?
Do you mean sharecroppers?

No. Please make a case though...

Make a case for you not knowing the history of such company run towns?

This makes no sense. This is in you.

Peace

No. Make a case with facts and sources that back up whatever argument you are making about company run towns.

What towns?
All towns?
Some towns?
What location?
What dates?
Some employees?
All employees?
Ramifications?
Were laws violated?

See how this should work? Make a case.

I often find it very difficult to respond to nice, good posters because there is so much they don't know.

It runs across all forums. Posts that just don't realize how big the gaps in their knowledge is.

Then if you offer tutelage they argue instead of learn.
Or claim victory because you just can't go through teaching and teaching to deaft ears all day.

Let it go. Let them think they gave reinvented the wheel.
When the spokes break, they will understand. Of course, the damage will have been done even though their intentions were good.

Humans, a failed species.

I can't make a case for you not bring aware.
I will not expend the energy to offer you history classes.

I wish you peace

It is sad to see that you crumbled so easily. Next time learn something before acting arrogant... it will make your failure much less pathetic.

It is all probably run by a bank or rental management company... It is not like the Principal is the land lord.

Yea, i didn't think the principal was going to be coming over and changing the air filters.

Eh…I’ve arranged extended stay hotels,
Corporate housing, car leases, etc for executives. I’ve put houses on the market and facilitated purchasing houses…for executives.

I don’t necessarily see this as “company store”…but I’d have to see how the contracts are written to know for sure.

In general, I’m not opposed to schools getting creative with ways to attract and retain good teachers…but again…the details are going to be what matters.

isn't this not taking shitty paid teacher jobs ^ exactly what is causing arizona government to look for other incentive programs, such as mill village housing, to attract the teachers who are shunning arizona and its crappy salaries

Yeah, I'm more talking about teachers who take a job and then complain about the pay.

Follow up:

In a CNN video they show a picture of what I assume is one of the homes being built in Chino district:

1696593582855.webp

Rented for "well below market:" ... uh, because that house is well below market. This is what Chino will be charging $1200 for.

And that CNN story says that the homes being "built" in Prescott are just single wide trailer homes... meaning that picture in the OP article I posted is BS.

They call these new communities "teacherages"

What can I say?
My awareness of history is no match for your posted pipe dreams.

Peace

On the one hand it's certainly in interesting way to save money on paying teachers...

On the other hand, it's hard to escape the feelin that this school district is now managing it's talent a lot like a 1990s Hip Hop record label.

Or possibly like a 1940s mining company.
So it is best to pay teachers 100,000 a year and that doesn't include the added cost of health insurance, etc. And then when they retire after 30 years. Pay them 90% of their highest year for the rest of their lives with health insurance? Yeah, public spending is wasteful and not sustainable. Americans need to tell the public institutions that they need to first consider how they will lower their costs over the years rather than increasing for certain budgets while decreasing others as a way to look like they are doing their jobs. Public servants? More like useless leaches.

Even came with its own barb wired fence and a gatling gun attached to the roof.

your post indicates we should not require teachers on the public payroll

how do you propose we teach our kids, so they can assure a prosperous future, without teachers?

Most 'kids' don't prosper. They just live their lives going through the motions. I am for 'kids' to be sent to as much exposure events as possible to help them towards their goal of achieving whatever aims they want. But most kids are not going to do anything significant with their lives.

We should have chartered schools that are not affiliated with religion, but rather pursuits a kid might find enjoyable. The only restriction should be test-based entrance and if there are too many applicants. A public lottery that allows for the students that are on the edge to being accepted to be accepted. Schools in this nation are a highly expensed child care. That needs to change.

Teachers have families. A cookie cutter home may be inappropriately sized to cover everybody's situation.
And as a bonus, if the teacher is laid off they also are evicted from their home. A two-fer! I'm sure lots of teachers will say "Oh yeah, gimmie some of that!"

A 2 teacher household in AZ makes a median household income of ~$106,000, which is considerably above the national average.

Thats 53K each.

Thats sad IMO.

Considerably above the national average? For teachers? You sure about that?

Thats even more sad.

Where did I say "for teachers"? It is well above the average household income in the US.

Whatchoo been smoking?

>The national median household income is $74,580, according to the most recent U.S. Census Bureau Current Population Survey data for 2022. It's a 2.3% decline from 2021 estimates of $76,330.<

And how educated are teachers when compared to the "average" American?

That's with two adults working and that's with 50% of households earning less than that with the other half making more. Try finding me a household where the public sector workers are making less than median household income? They out earn everyone and that's with doing the same line of work.

so, your approach is to educate the kids able to test in, assuming there is adequate room for them, and the rest just hang out somewhere

and who knows where the teachers would come from, since you do not expect them to be paid by the government

based on my limited familiarity with your posts, such an opinion about your recommended education system is not found surprising
