Nice theory, @Ikari but the reality is that they do NOT look good by comparison - it's just an opportunity for Democrats to score political points by saying "see! even these Republicans are on our side!" -- only, that isses the whole point that the people who vote for Trump are an amalgum of Right , Independents, Moderates, and even Left, because. There was a seismic shift, with the identity politickers, Progressives and neocons with the Dems in an unholy alliance, and a similar unholy alliance on Trump's side of folks who all hate the military industrial complex, big banks, overeseas military adventures, and corporatist economic policies...

That's bizarre, since Cheney was accused of being a vampire, and of being the architect of the Iraq War that started it based on a lie causing thousands of Americans and about a million Iraqi deaths, pushing the Patriot Act, and then enriching himself and his cronies in the new favorite activity of "nationbuilding" where he and his cohorts get massive infrastructure contracts to siphon billions out of the public tit.

If you think that's better than Donald Trump, you really should take another look at just who Dick Cheney really is.

When the Left hated Cheney and fracking. Now they love both. Must be because they are so intellectually honest.

Dick Cheney is an enemy of democracy in America and a war criminal. His warm reception on the floor of Congress by Democrats yesterday at the January 6 Capitol riot commemoration was shameful and disgusting.
It’s necessary to remember a bit of history here. Cheney was the most powerful vice president in US history. He is most remembered for his role in promoting the Iraq War, an illegal war of aggression predicated on lies, as well as pushing the nation to the “dark side” after 9/11, which included torture, detention without trial (including of US citizens), warrantless surveillance, and other egregious departures from liberal norms of democracy.

All this was predicated on a shocking legal theory that gave the president sweeping wartime powers that neither Congress nor the courts could check. As they were fighting a global war with no borders, this meant that not even US citizens in the United States were safe from the wartime president’s rampages. This was illustrated by the case of José Padilla, who was arrested at the Chicago airport, declared an enemy combatant by George W. Bush, and held in a military prison for three and half years.

These are not the actions of a “defender of democracy” but of someone who constantly attacked and undermined and disregarded it. And while Cheney’s worst abuses came during the “war on terror,” they were the culminations of decades of his scheming against American democracy. Steve Doocy (FOX WH reporter) asked the press sec if they ( BIden/Harris/Clinton/Dem) should stop calling Trump a "threat".. Instead they doubled down on it.
I've seen a lot more anti-democratic suppression of speech orchestrated by the FBI, and out right lying and "Hitler " etc..

They refuse to mend their ways

COVID was still in the news in terms vaccination efforts, and remained in the news with new variants. We had gotten past much of the main mitigation efforts by that point.

The point of the video is that people can be armed pretty much anywhere in Florida and Texas.

Media boots would be on the ground sniffing beating the bushes getting any information they can dig up. They'd do what reporters do and they'd find a new angle to report for weeks at a time. If any of those people were targeted a second time that would set the left wing media's hair on fire. Reporters would be camped out at the FBI pounding that agency for answers. The FBI and the USSS would feel the wrath of left wing media following and questioning their every move. No question the fault for the attempts (regardless of who did it) would be laid at the feet of Trump and republicans.

How the hell was that SS agent able to see that muzzle poking out? I suspect they were aware that was a potential problem area but wtf its Trump were watching. If they used an infrared drone they could spot that guy in the bushes easily. The whole top management needs to be replaced in my opinion. The culture there doesn't seem focused on protecting the protectees. It doesn't appear they are embracing technology.
