Are We At War With Islam?

You would be surprised how many people forget about all of the weapons we've sold to the middle east.
 
It is way more complicated than that. We aren’t at odds with the majority of Muslim countries in the world. In fact, several of them are our allies. Do I believe the fact that the countries we are taking military action in are Muslim help sell it to the American people? Yes. Does it play a part? Yes. Is it the only or major reason? No.
 

The answer is dependent upon whether one believes that it requires that acquiescence of all parties for their to be a war, or just the aggressor.

Traditional Islam commands that its adherents make endless war on the rest of Humanity until the entire world is Dar al-Islam, possibly with a permanently subjugated underclass. So effectively, all traditional Muslims must consider themselves to be at war with everyone else. (This will give the PC crowd the Vapors, since they have a fictional version of Traditional Islam in their minds.)
 

If I beat someone else's wife to death for honour, does that count as both beat wife and honour killing, or do I have to beat my own wife?

People constantly mistake extremism for mainstream. Extremists are dangerous and everything you said, but most Muslims are not extremists. Matter of fact, they are peaceful people. I've known many Muslims throughout my life. Not one of them wanted to harm anyone. They wanted to be able to practice their religion and live their lives.

You have to be cognoscente of the whole picture. Don't look through the kaleidoscope of propaganda. Go to a local Mosque and talk with people there. I bet you will gain a better understanding of them and won't perpetuate the stereotypes.

If you look at polling, fundamentalists (distinct from extremism) seem to make up a rather large percentage of the population of the Islamic world
