Democracy is self-rule. It gives citizens rights and obligations. They have rights to vote, to free speech, to assemble, to petition. They have obligations to respect others' rights, to get informed, to try to make good choices for the country, to pay taxes, etc.

Republicans are failing at most if not all of these things.

They are suppressing the right to vote for others; not using their right to information to get informed but only to get fed propaganda; they are not respecting others' rights, even trying to get the power to overturn elections; they have an irrational hatred of taxes that has resulted in record inequality and staggering debt; they constantly make choices that result in things such as lower wages, more poverty, a lack of needed regulation, allowing the climate to be destroyed, and much more.

They are unable to cope with the manipulations from groups like Heritage and right-wing media. They are willingly manipulated and hostile to key national interests.

Right now the only things protecting the Republic is their numbers not being high enough, as they plot to steal power in coming elections with those low numbers.

They're capable of it, they just don't seem to believe in it.

Is that really a question after oh...200 years of history?

Republicans love democracy. Republicans believe in democracy. The problem is they think only the “right” kind of people should be allowed to participate in their democracy.

Loving getting power when they win elections is not loving democracy. What evidence is there that they support democracy on anything other than getting their way, and by their way I mean the agenda of the interests who propagandize them and push an agenda?

Voter Suppression Is Against The Law

Why are party members at all levels throughout the USA supporting GOP elected officials that
encourage breaking the law by attacking the right TO VOTE in the USA?

While it's not against the law, mostly, the reason seems to be that the answer to the thread topic is "no".

Let's demand of the Democratic Party make it against the law. ALEC Republicans are claiming voter fraud yet have not proved beyond a reasonable doubt. Seems to be political rhetoric.

Except for the republicans who have been busted and these criminals seem to be elected officials and/or high ranking party members.

When the Republicans had the Senate, they refused to consider ending the filibuster.
Unlike the Democrats.

Nobody is attacking the right to vote.
Its one of those factually deficient allegations progressives specialize in.

When it comes to a commitment to democratic practices, there are words and there are actions.

Can someone remind me which of the two major parties relies more heavily on unelected super-delegates in its presidential nominating process?

Awfully broad brush, there, Craig.

I suppose if you want to say that, then I suppose I could ask if democrats are incapable of enforcing boarders?

I'd have about as much evidence for it as you do for this.

Yes, it's a generalization.

No, you wouldn't. Obama deported more people than trump. A policy of terror taking children from their parents isn't border enforcement. Trying to ban all Muslims is not needed for border control.

I didn't mention Trump. Who's comparing, and why?

You said you could show Democrats can't enforce borders (so presumably Republicans can). If you are going to play games I won't waste time.

I'm not playing games, at least in so far as you're not, as well.

Your claim is just ridiculous. Republicans (as if they're all the same) are INCAPABLE of democracy. And somehow, democrats, who don't even have a transparent nomination process (democrats get to vote for whoever the DNC tells them to) are capable? Explain how the democratic party supports democracy, I beg you...because it'll get destroyed.

Meanwhile, back on the republican side...they want voter ID. Dems want that and much more for gun ownership, which is the VERY next ammendment in the bill of rights. But voter ID is voter supression. But all the stuff they want for gun ownership is NOT infringement, and NOT suppression.

Republicans are racist...and dems arent...because...dems think black and brown people are the ones Republicans are trying to target with their voter suppression (a simple ID)...and dems think black and brown people are just too stupid or lazy to get an ID. Because dems aren't racist.

There's one thing I've learned in the management business. And it's very simple. Before you criticize another, take a hard look in a mirror first.

This is tedious. One time.

Your claim is just ridiculous. Republicans (as if they're all the same)

It's a generalization. I.e., true about most.

are INCAPABLE of democracy.

Yes, I think that's been shown. You think it's time for whatabuotism.

And somehow, democrats, who don't even have a transparent nomination process (democrats get to vote for whoever the DNC tells them to) are capable?

So an imperfect process if your proof they aren't capable of democracy. What nonsense. That's like saying Biden's stutter shows he's not able to be president.

Look at my user pic. I'm rather aware of the imperfections. You know, in 2016 Bernie was able to go from almost unknown (4%), taking no big money, with a near media blackout, to 46% almost defeating the 100% known candidate.

Ya, he should have won and didn't, but those flaws are almost nothing regarding the topic of your whataboutism.

Explain how the democratic party supports democracy, I beg you...because it'll get destroyed.

Waste of time. It's like demanding proof that kids like candy. The fact you challenge it says a lot. Your whole case against it is an imperfect nomination.

Meanwhile, back on the republican side...they want voter ID. Dems want that and much more for gun ownership, which is the VERY next ammendment in the bill of rights. But voter ID is voter supression. But all the stuff they want for gun ownership is NOT infringement, and NOT suppression.

More whataboutism, and rather clueless. Gun registration IS supposed to suppress gun ownership... by people who aren't supposed to have guns. You can't even understand voter id laws are minority voter suppression.

It's too hard for you to look up the numbers of how votes are affected by the laws, and who is affected.

Republicans are racist...and dems arent...because...dems think black and brown people are the ones Republicans are trying to target with their voter suppression (a simple ID)...and dems think black and brown people are just too stupid or lazy to get an ID. Because dems aren't racist.

Tedious. You have your rant speech you shout having nothing to do with the topic. It's like pulling a string on a doll. Right-wing garbage.

take a hard look in a mirror first.

Ya, you sure looked at Republican flaws a lot, if zero is a lot. Democrats! Nomination! Guns! Racism! Not planning to waste time on the tedious, either.

Republicans would love democracy, if only white Christians rooted to the Conservative Reservation voted. As we see, once the atheists, Muslims, blacks, “Mexicans,” feminists, gays and various freaks start having a say, they throw democracy under the bus.

I would have put Christians in quotes.
