Are America's Best Days.......

I agree with other posters that we have reached our best days.

Regardless of who wins in 2020, the United States of America is now starting its inevitable decline.

"You reap what you sow" sums it up nicely (without going into politically incorrect details).

We need a Great Reformation in our country like the Christian Church had done

It needs to start outside of our vain and broken political election process

" Controversy changes history"

But it sill takes England(Your country), Germany and China put together to even equal our GDP(LOL)

Since you put it that way. How many Nations would have to be put together to even equal our deficit and perhaps unfunded liabilities?

The good old days weren't always good, and tomorrow is not as bad as it seems...

"War of northern aggression" my ass. It was southerners who fired the first shots at Fort Sumter, southerners which invaded areas which tried to exercise the same "rights" the Confederacy claimed every state had--- for example, West Virginia--- and southerners which had flooded into Kansas in an effort to spread slavery before the war and launched decades long bouts of terrorism in states like Kansas and Missouri.

You seem to have an inside track on all the disinformation fantasies that have been spread about the USA. The Real World beckons.

ahead or behind ? State your case, and give the criteria on which you make your case.

Absolutely and positively in DECLINE

Most people ignore that and pretend it isn't happening

Like Rome, Immigration is a huge factor. It's the high numbers and where new immigrants are coming from that is the difference today(since 1965)

Also, elections matter less, Liberals are winning the culture wars

Americans simply, do not know what it is to be an American

While so many here gripe about Democrats.... and Republicans.... and Republicans.... and democrats..... , there is a parallel line that parallel's them which is our country being destroyed

This is all because of our majority ignorant citizenry

I will debate anyone anytime on that

Oh I am not ignorant at all to that

Even with that, I stand by to what I said.

Well, when it comes to Americanism 101, things are bad for tomorrow and today as they are!

Can't get much worse than what's going on. An incompetent idiot in the White House, a country divided like never before, international crises initiated by Trump's moronic 'foreign policy', a $22 trillion national debt-and climbing, increasing wealth gap between rich and poor. 'Cretinous' is too kind a word to describe Trump's total lack of foresight, tact, diplomacy, moral principles and humanity.

The right Partisans cited some of these same things agaisnt Obama, and you felt partisans turn a blind eye to it.

Obama divided, create failed states with is meddling, racked up unprecedented debt etc.

Could IGNORANT be construed as MISINFORMED? The MSM, a/k/a the CIA's Mighty Wurlitzer, seems to be the culprit, although there are many.

Here is the Heart and soul to our problems

Being an American is the "Spirit" in what was our American revolution. We do not have that

Like a marriage in the beginning, lots of romance etc.... Then, in time it declines. That is what has happened to us a country. . People in the media are simply citizens themselves. But thats not the heart of our problem. It's our failed 17th in the world education system. It's complacent and apathy(Failed marriage)

The tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy."

Depends what you mean by "best days". If you are alluding to the time after WWII when we totaled about 50% of the world's GDP and was the world's sole military power then yes our best days are behind us. Europe and Japan have been rebuilt and China is no longer a closed society. America's military is still the strongest but here too natons like China are catching up and we see that asymmetrical warfare can win.

That being said if you mean is our standard of living on the decline that is more ambiguous. Americans today (largely) have more and better material things than those of past eras. Civil rights for many groups while certainly not perfect is materially better than it was decades ago and seems to be on a continued better path.

Debt wise we are better off than we were coming out of WWII. That being said it seems we are on an unsustainable path of deficits which I see neither party having the ability to fix. Same with immigration. Not sure a nation can have an expanding social safety net and boundless illegal immigration along with the healthy legal immigration program.

Bottom line we are very fortunate to as Warren Buffett says won the "Vagina Lottery" and were born in the U.S.

/// won the "Vagina Lottery" and were born in the U.S. //// A term ( or something very similar ) I mention to my wife, kids, grand kids, great grand kids, friends, and acquaintances quite often

I think the Marshall Plan was a great plan and wonderful achievment. OTOH I think the Early CIA compromised the Program at every level with anti Soviet paranoia. I personally believe the CIA to be the worst thing that ever happened to the USA. CIA intrigue has intruded into every facet of USA life form eavesdropping to financial manipulations to MSM mismanagement.

Point is we have been giving $$$$ to other countries for a long time

We're also a Big Brother(our military) that can come to their aid in time of crisis

How nice is that?

I think most Americans as they grow older pretty much look back as the good old days were much better than today. That gloom and doom await around the corner in the future. The question most asked is what's wrong with these kids today?

As subtle as the difference between a "Big Brother" or an occupying Force controlling economics.

Since the beginning of government there have always been turbulent times and divide.
Obviously people on this forum don’t remember the late 60’s.
A pessimist will feel the worst is ahead.
An optimist will feel the best is ahead.
I’m an optimist.
The events that occur today are only a hiccup in history.

I haven’t read any of the posts, but the Trump haters will say we are in the worst of times, of course due to Trump.

Can't argue with that. As an older person who faired quite well in pursuit of the American Dream ( having more 'goodies' than I'll ever need or use ), I do miss the good old days when times were simpler and kids played outside from dawn to dusk, and weren't afraid to walk home from school. Heck, my 5 year old great grand son has his own tablet.

As long as we have our Constitution, in spite of little bumps in the road … like Donald Jane tRump, America is just getting warmed up.

I was kinda hoping the 'trump' card wouldn't be played in this thread, as it really wasn't created with any one's individual politiclal lean in mind.

I can relate to that. I'm in the same boat. As a kid, you couldn't get me to come inside. Times were a heck of a lot more simpler in the past. As they say, it seems today's society has went to hell in a hand basket.

No question IMO, the perspective of older humans, their bodies in decline, is one of pessimism, hopefully misplaced.

As long as we have our Constitution

The "Constitution " sir is ONLY as good as the people(Hint)
