Liberals seriously need to grow a pair and start fighting for their ideals. Letting this kind of crap happen is really pathetic. We're right and we know it, most of America agrees with us, and we need to stop playing soft.

It's actually nice to see a bit of progress being inched forward. It's not all we need to correct the atrocity of legal abortion but it's a start.

I am expressing happiness at this news.

This is a nice start. Hopefully we can run off Wendy Davis's buddies in downtown Fort Worth, too. On a rail, preferably, with the tar and feathers included.

if legal abortion services are unavailable, do you think that will serve as a deterrence to the people who desperately seek such services?

Roe v. Wade Section 11 allows this kind of law as it's meant to safeguard the health of the woman.

And, if both the maternal and infant mortality rates continue to rise in Texas because of this law? You do know that maternal mortality rates in Texas has gone up 400% in the last 15 years, don't you?

I think that mortality rate is what inspired this law in the first place.

15 years without this law and mortality keeps going up. Yes I think requiring admitting privilege is perfectly warranted. Sorry Planned Parenthood but you can't keep making money off of women's lives.

Except, of course, it is the mortality rates of people giving birth, not the mortality rates of woman having abortions. I suspect that the reason the mortality rates went up is that access to abortion went down (among other factors).

That tells me there's something wrong with the medical system, that it cannot perform deliveries; or something wrong with local women, that they have unhealthy pregnancies. What are the major complications causing mortality?

In this day and age with the wide availability of Plan-B, if you're pregnant it's only because you want to be. Sure there are a few exceptions, but if you're negligent in your BC then you're giving implied consent to be pregnant, otherwise you would maintain due diligence.

But this is not to protect the woman's health, laws like this are made to impede on the women's right to choose.

No right is unlimited. I can't legaly buy a modern machinegun and a woman can't legaly get an abortion at your basic clinic.

Both don in the name of 'saftey'.
