I'm not disagreeing with these points. While there were parts of his speech I do not agree with, there was much more in the text I do agree with.

What you are talking about with a House Bill was post the 1st midterm, if I recall correctly coming out of the 112th Congress (and more importantly a Republican House.) What I was talking about was right when Obama went into office. The point of that fact check that I quoted was Obama had a Democratic 111th Congress to work with. Obama's campaigning to the Spanish vote included plenty of times he said he would act within the 1st year in office with comprehensive reform. And that campaign promise Obama broke. Campaign Obama turned into President Obama and he spent his time working on the economy and ACA. That was the point.

Most of the bills post the first midterm became subject to the partisan division on this issue. You have to remember we are talking about a Republican House that spent some 40+ times trying to repeal ACA knowing full well it had no prayer in the Senate or on Obama's desk. So when it comes to immigration there was little hope. Speak of, most things that originated in the House of both the 112th and 113th Congresses came with the understanding that political appearance meant more than plausibility of passing. Hence the budget / debt debates during the later stages of the 112th Congress.

The main point is the fact check on the campaign promise was right, something I had forgotten about until the article reminded me of his campaign speeches way back before his first term.

We get the point about keeping promises, but this isn't the only promise he broke. How about transparency, Gitmo, lower healthcare costs, restore our credibility on the world stage, and the list goes on and on. He's bull****ting about the big deal in keeping this promise like it's the only one he forgot. But it is the only one that gets him votes, and that's the primary reason for keeping it.

He promised to secure the ****ing border, but he broke that too. No amount of ink on paper will keep people from crossing the border.

There is a remedy, and I spelled out one of avenue Republicans can take. But it will mean doing something Republicans have been unwilling to do concerning immigration for over 4 years now. That is, being practical about what we face here.

While you run around taking pictures of the nation before the fall, the reset of us need to look to leadership to actually do something for a problem that is not going away. It does mean election of a President that follows the law I would agree, but it also means a complicit Congress doing something rational when it comes to the economic and social reality of so many being here illegally.

THE FACTS: Indeed, in the 2014 budget year the Border Patrol made 486,651 arrests of border crossers, among the fewest since the early 1970s. But border arrests have been on the rise since 2011.



The decline in crossings is not purely, or perhaps even primarily, due to the Obama administration. The deep economic recession early in his presidency and the shaky aftermath made the U.S. a less attractive place to come for work. The increase in arrests since 2011 also can be traced in part to the economy — as the recovery improved, more people came in search of opportunity.

So right in the first sentence , they concur that Obama was factually accurate. But then they add their spin.

I think they should have taken a different tack.
The number of arrests don't necessarily mean people didn't try to get across illegally. The elephant in the room- how many did make it across without getting arrested?

Barack Obama has detained and deported more illegal aliens than any other president in history.

He is on pace a now that by the end of his second term he will have deported more illegal aliens than his two most recent predecessors combined.

All he did last night was make it plain that he wasn't going allow an executive office of the government to deport some people.

The plain and simple fact is that, for the most part, he was talking to people who weren't in any danger at all of being deported in the first place.

This is not, in any way, a major policy shift.

It's quite simply a stick in the eye of radical conservatives.

This is designed to provoke Republicans into doing something dumb, like shutting the government down and simultaneously impeaching him while Ted Cruz swings from the rafters of the Senate, naked, while barking obscenities incoherently. It has the added benefit of getting all the lunatic fringe conservatives chattering away on the Internet and on Facebook like they mistakenly think they're posting to the Stormfront chat forum.

It's a simple matter of ensuring that Republicans do not strip away the ~20% of the Hispanic vote they need to put a Republican president in the White House in 2016.

Naturally, the Republicans will fall for it hook line and sinker.

You may be correct. That way he can declare martial law and shut this country down. I think he may be secretly disappointed that we have been so "accommodating" thus far, and may be wondering just WTH it's going to take to accomplish his and people like Soros's group's goals - One World Government! Our Constitution and Bill of Rights seems to be a major irritant to them, since they didn't dream they'd have so many fighting against them, so the bullying and illegal ruthless tactics are about to get a lot worse, IMO. Expecting us to meekly give in without a fight isn't working!

Other than a lot of staged riots and an ongoing emphasis on rhetoric meant to ensure continued divisiveness, they may have decided that it's time to use the illegal aliens situation - which was deliberately created by them, BTW - from their bag of tricks. What matters is that the US must be brought to its knees, and if we can be bankrupted at the same time, so much the better. I believe it will begin with assassinations of prominent Democrats and the Latino front groups. If the Republicans fail to address this appropriately I do not see how war can be avoided. I do not know how it will begin. But I will know it when I see it. You might not.
