Great numbers in the economy prior to a world wide pandemic and the U.S. is in fact doing better than most of the industrialized world with the virus and with the economy left from the closings. He would be unconventional if a democrat and they would publicly love him and so would the press. It's the problems of the left that they can't control wht they want.

What's absurd is a president hosting super spreader events with no masks during a pandemic. At the very least he could have required masks for these crowds. That's the definition of incompetence.

About Trump's economic accomplishments I'll let you answer that yourself by answering a few questions:

What was the unemployment rate at it's highest during the Obama years, what was it when Trump was inaugurated, what was it at it's lowest under Trump, and what is it now?

Did Obama create more jobs in his last 3 years than Trump in his first 3?

Did Trump ever cross 4% GDP like he promised? How can less than 4% GDP be even close to the greatest economy ever?

The president is accusing doctors of falsely diagnosing patients for money. His supporters chant, "Fire Fauci!" It's total insanity yet it's a close election.

Fauci was there since the AIDS epidemic. He has chaced epidemics around the world, in Africa and India. He's an expert in epidemics. Trump is now listening to a radiologist.

It's not about the president's fragile ego. It's about working together to contain this virus and flatten the curve.

Trump is out there having rallies with thousands of people who are spreading the virus in their communities. People are dying. Trump doesn't care. This is the definition of incompetence. If a citizen did this they would be prosecuted for manslaughter.

Yes it's disturbing, but education is at best a small part of the answer. The problems are partisanship, and particularly the two-party system in which (aided and abetted by massive legal brib campaign donations and the 'lesser evil' politics encouraged by first-past-the-post voting) gravitation towards a fairly similar band of policies on most important issues necessitates exaggerated, hyper-partisan rhetoric on the few areas of real (or even just perceived) difference to energize the voting base against the 'greater evil.' In other words the problem obviously isn't just the party of Trump: How is better education going to change something like Clinton's "basket of deplorables" comment, more or less explicitly saying that she wouldn't be a president for half the country? That half of the country then has a powerful psychological impetus to justify their own candidate as the lesser evil instead, especially after having voted him into office!

Listening to conservative callers I realize that most of these people are incapable of evaluating whether a claim is true or false.

Is the coronavirus a hoax? That's no a difficult question to answer given that it's a global pandemic and hospitals were overflowing.

Another problem is most voters have absolutely no idea what socialism or communism means.

Okay, but education doesn't do a whole lot to change base intelligence. Folk who are less capable of researching and evaluating information for themselves will always rely on particular sources for their information, and which sources they prioritize - or especially, which sources they dismiss outright as 'fake news' - is again mostly a matter of partisanship.

Regarding the basket of deplorables, she clearly said half of Trump supporters were deplorables.

And later said that she regretted saying half.
