As the inauguration got underway, violence erupted in the city's downtown about five blocks from the parade route. Protesters threw rocks at glass storefronts, including a Starbucks and banks, and clutched hammers and bricks, witnesses told NBC News.
Protesters flung the bricks at police cars, although it was unclear what set off the situation, said Staff Sgt. Mark Stevenson of the D.C. Army National Guard.
"The only source of light on this miserable day is the massive, multi-racial, multi-generational progressive resistance movement led by women and people of color that's already emerging to confront Donald Trump's agenda of hate and growing stronger every single day," said Democracy for America Executive Director Charles Chamberlain.
Inauguration protests, acts of vandalism, police injured as Donald Trump takes office - CNNPolitics.comTwo DC police officers and one other person were taken to the hospital for undetermined injuries after run-ins with protesters, DC Fire Spokesman Vito Maggiolo told CNN. The injuries are non-life threatening.
A few blocks from the White House, outside the security perimeter, building windows along the street were broken out, some vehicle windows were smashed and newspaper stands toppled. One business owner told CNN there might have been as many as several hundred protesters in the area, some dressed in black.
Right, because everyone knows that violent political protest is a brand new thing.. This is what happens when "participation trophies" become the norm.
Anti-Trump Protests Intensify on Morning of Inauguration - NBC News
There are all kinds of stories out there regarding anti-Trump protesters insulting, assaulting and generally harassing those who came to witness Trumps inauguration in peace.
This is what happens when government leaders preach an "everybody is a winner" mentality. This is what happens when "participation trophies" become the norm.
Yeah? Here's your "source of light"

The inability to frame argument without any sort scope is pathetic.
But this also meant there was a steady stream of heckling of Bush and Cheney as they moved along the broad boulevard toward the White House. And it wasn’t entirely without incident. There were a few minor altercations between protesters and police. The AP reported that in one incident, impatient protesters who wanted to get closer to the parade route slashed tires on cars before getting arrested.
The hatred was palpable. At one particularly dark moment, a protester lobbed an egg at the presidential limo. Bush remained safely inside until the final block before reaching his new home. (In the past, Bush’s father and even Bill Clinton walked large stretches of the parade route, but not so during this cold and contentious day.)

I can post the massive reich-wing hate, violence, to a much greater level than whatever you got that was directed towards Obama.True. It isn't a new thing.

Thankfully our founding fathers did not have nearly so cowardly an attitude toward protest.

Hmm....do you really consider throwing rocks through store windows and assaulting people "protest"? If so, do you consider it to be "peaceful assembly" as protected by the Constitution?
[...]
Hmm... lots of snowflakes on the ground in DC, eh?
Can't Trump keep his followers from melting from the heat of the protests?

I think the issue is something else.
For one, there the he is a fascist/Hitler, with the "Putin puppet" nonsense and the claims of lack of legitimacy have combined so that a lot of people believe they are fighting a fascist.
I mean, if you believed the new President was all those things, you'd probably want to resist too.
That's why it's so horribly irresponsible to say stupid **** like that.
It's kinda ironic to be doing violence, and damage, protesting a lawful transfer of power in the name of anti-fascism....
I'm completely support their right to protest (even though I think it's useless and hurts the Left more than helps, IMO) but when people start getting violent, that's where I draw the line.
But it's not the government that's causing this. Violent protests happen all the time, and in plenty of other countries.
Those people are just very angry, and they see Trump as the enemy. But like most violent protests, it doesn't help their postion at all. As I mentioned earlier, it just makes the Left look bad.
You would think someone using a skinhead avatar would see the irony in this post.....but then again, apparently not.True, special dependent class snowflakes have been thowing violent tantrums for decades.
You think the American Revolution was peaceful?
...
I don't know how to respond to that.

Hurr-durr, the protest is not directed towards the mechanism, but the person. It's kinda ironic to be doing violence, and damage, protesting a lawful transfer of power in the name of anti-fascism....
