Another reason to never trust a Cop.

Totally agree. It seems there is a similarity to the Sovereign Citizen movement, could be some overlap.
I think there is. At least in terms of ideology. And they’re mostly grifters.

The best policy is just never to initiate contact with cops at all if you can possibly avoid it.

The guy in the OP should have just let the initial incident go and moved on and not have called the cops.

Just avoid cops at all costs.
Or, he could have explained the situation without escalating by raising his voice and talking over / interrupting the cops.

Law enforcement in this nation is a disaster, every encounter with them has a reasonable chance of escalation into an arrest and/or really getting hurt. I would go so far as to say that law enforcement, especially in the urban areas, look at every citizen as a suspect and an opportunity to harm someone.

You cannot mouth off to law enforcement, compliance with them even when they are in the wrong by law and Constitution is the only option. Then file suit and end their employment is your fallback.

Must be an Aussie thing, cause I never seen a cop here leave their service gun inside the car unattended

I said cops leave guns in their cars unattended. They do it in Aussie, the USA and many other countries. You have not refuted this fact.

.

They do not leave their sidearm in the car, ever. Are you just trolling now?
I didn't say that they do. I said that they could. You have not refuted this fact.

I also said that the homeowner could order them off his property while they are armed. You have no refuted this either.

United States Police are trained around 500 hours. The next countries are 4x that around 2,000. Many are in the 3,00-4,000 range.

American cops are woefully undertrained, ignorant of laws and quick to violence.

The owner is the one who called them to his property, ostensibly to make a police report. Did you watch your own video?
No, they cannot leave their sidearm in the car.

Yes. That is why I was able to understand what happened. Maybe you should watch it.

No, they cannot leave their sidearm in the car.

What law prevents them from doing so?

You dont even know what you're saying anymore.

First you say cops leave their guns inside their car, then you say they could do it but they dont
Also you said rifles = guns. This is not true, guns are not rifles

Didn't think such an obvious and basic thing needed one... I mean, the shotguns are just sitting there in plain site.

I thought you would know I was talking about their sidearms, maybe I overestimated you.

Yes. That is why I was able to understand what happened. Maybe you should watch it.

I assume it is standard police practice world wide, not a law. Ask yourself what good an unarmed cop would be in an emergency, like if the guy
in your OP were to pull out a gun and begin shooting. Or if they were responding to an emergency at your house, like for example a home invasion,
but they left their weapons in the car.

Sadly, your link doesn't address sidearms, which is the main thrust of this thread.

You dont even know what you're saying anymore.

You just aren't following the conversation, that is all.

First you say cops leave their guns inside their car, then you say they could do it but they dont

No. I said that they do leave guns in their car... rifles and shotguns.

You or @911Sparky said they can't leave their pistol (service gun) in the car and I said that they could leave their pistol in the car.

Also you said rifles = guns. This is not true, guns are not rifles

Sure they are. Rifles are guns/firearms. I don't care about any of your semantics,

A firearm is any type of gun that uses an explosive charge and is designed to be readily carried and operated by an individual.

It is upon you to prove that a cop can not leave their gun in their patrol car. You have not done that. You have failed. End of story. *shrug*

I assume it is standard police practice world wide, not a law.

So they can leave their gun in their car.

Ask yourself what good an unarmed cop would be in an emergency,

We seem to manage ...

The vast majority of people are not living Grand Theft Auto. Sorry that you live in such an impoverished and violent area.

You made the claim that cops can leave sidearms in the car, perhaps you should prove your claim. I have never seen a cop out of the patrol car
without a sidearm.

So they can leave their gun in their car.

I have never had a bad interaction with a cop just a few speeding tickets over the years. If you think home invasions are limited only to poor or
destitute areas, you aren't as bright as you seem to think you are, what is the point in robbing poor people?
I bet any cop in the US who left his / her sidearm in the car would be facing some disciplinary actions, but you still haven't proved to me that they can.

I can't prove a negative. You need to prove there is a law prohibiting them from doing so or else I win. *shrugs*

I have never had a bad interaction with a cop just a few speeding tickets over the years.

I have... liars and violent. Even the speeding tickets the cops were either lying or jerks.

All good on the tickets though....

If you think home invasions are limited only to poor or
destitute areas, you aren't as bright as you seem to think you are, what is the point in robbing poor people?

Dude, it was a joke. Grand Theft Auto?

I bet any cop in the US who left his / her sidearm in the car would be facing some disciplinary actions, but you still haven't proved to me that they can.

Maybe they would, but I don't need to. You need to prove they are prohibited from doing so.

There is that reading comprehension thing again, I never claimed it was a law.
I have... and even the speeding tickets the cops were either lying or jerks. All good on the ticket as I am sure I broke thousands of speed limits and rolling stops...

Dude, it was a joke. Grand Theft Auto?
Sorry, I don't play video games.
Maybe they would, but I don't need to. You need to prove they are prohibited from doing so.
In a previous post I suggested that the handgun requirement was a department directive, not a law. I think we are done here, since you apparently have an axe to grind, and I'm not a grinding wheel.

I never claimed that you claimed it was a law.

Read it again...

Sorry, I don't play video games.

Either do I. But you have heard of it, right?

In a previous post I suggested that the handgun requirement was a department directive, not a law. I think we are done here, since you apparently have an axe to grind, and I'm not a grinding wheel.

Huh? Axe? I said they could leave their gun in their car like they already do leave guns in their cars. You said that they can't but refuse to back that up with any evidence. If that is the extent of argument, just your opinion, that is fine and I guess that we are done here. :)

Yet you support ICE. Why the incongruity? ?

You just aren't following the conversation, that is all.

This is one of the dumbest posts I ever read, and thats quite saying something for this forum.

Generally speaking cops never leave their gun inside the car. Its always kept in their holster.
And rifles are not guns. Thats why they have a different name.
The only reason cops leave rifles inside their car is because they are too bulky to carry
