The White House has begun the process of looking for a new leader at the Pentagon to replace Pete Hegseth, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly. This comes as Hegseth is again mired in controversy over sharing military operational details in a group chat.

The defense secretary is under fire after revelations that he shared classified information in a group chat with his wife, brother and lawyer, according to the official.

doubt it/ if he wasn't canned the first time why can him now for the same thing?
I like him. he's focused on the shared purpose of the military, not divisive DEI and promotions by such

DEI has in fact been a focus for him, to the detriment of the military,

Good point.

If the Trump Admin likes incompetent opsec guy, incompetent opsec guy ain't going nowhere
no matter how damaging incompetent opsec guy is for morale
no matter how much potential damage incompetent opsec guy's gross negligence could do
Trump will keep incompetent opsec guy "for reasons" if he wants to

that sounds on brand for Trump

History has any number of stories of drunk people surviving fatal accidents on account of their drunkenness.

DEI is racist. (equality of outcome) It's unAmerican . It has absolutely no role in the military, where individual merit has to be the metric

What exactly was the DEI policy in the military? Bet you don’t know…

For instance, the merit of appointing an entirely unqualified general to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs?

I know I know! It was getting racist books from Maya Angelo and books about the Holocaust and books about African Americans in WWII out of the Naval Academy Library! Because those books make white people FEEL bad!

That is the current DEI. Much like Hegseth is a current DEI hire. I meant what was the policy before Hegseth.

True but Trump is very sensitive about his "brand" and if he tires of looking bad he won't show a thimble of loyalty.

Really?

You base your prediction on a news story from NPR that is based on an unnamed source? Even in the face of expressions of support for Hegseth from the President, himself?

Not something I would do, but hey...you do you.

I know what you mean! It’s not like the president cares about competence and ability. Hegseth has the one quality Trump does care for, the ability to kiss ass and suck dick!

He is what the right derisively calls a DEI hire. He was not the best qualified, rather he was picked because Trump likes big mouths who generate controversial headlines. He is an entertainer, with zero skills needed to manage a large and complex government agency. This is actually worse than what a DEI hire actually is.

That isn’t what DEI is. It doesn’t shut out any groups at all. That is what Inclusion means.

Maybe Hannity or tuck tuck.
