You can not "shut the border period." Not possible. For one thing, Mexico is a major trading partner. For another, not all the people coming across are illegals.

Just ignoring the law doesn't work out so well, and neither does isolationism.

Perhaps you do understand that it's not possible to "close the border shut," but that was your statement.

The way to keep out the illegal aliens is to turn off the magnet that draws them here, which is American jobs. The way to do that is to enforce existing law against hiring illegal labor. We don't need to throw a ton of money at the problem, just enforce the existing law.

While I'm sure the UN would love to hear the recommendations of 'born free', I'm guessing they won't accept your guess at a definition of 'refugee'.

The 3.7 billion is not for food and housing.

A lot is for lawyers and litigation because of the GOP law that was passed allows unaccompanied minors to have a hearing.

And guess what, if they were stopped at the border all this would not be an issue would it?

3.7 billion down the drain all because you want an open border. Of course you praised the GOP for allowing unaccompanied minors to have a hearing. But I didn't, they should have never entered this country in the first place. Then you say the 3.7 billion is not for food and housing, you telling me big daddy government is not feeding and housing these illegal aliens? And better yet not giving them medical healthcare. So your saying big daddy is not giving them food. water, a roof over their head and no medical, no counseling etc. If the 3.7 billion is not covering those items then where is the money coming from? Now the 3.7 billion is ballooning into more billions to take care of your illegal alien friends.

I know you think we can cure the world and feed every person that is hungry and provide for them in every way. Maybe you should go around the world and experience what real hunger is and how many countries really live in the most impoverished conditions. Let me tell you there are millions of people far worse off than those paying money to traffickers to bring them to the US for free care. If you really want to help the most impoverished in the world, our border is not the place to start. All you open border leftist wanting to give aid and comfort start where worst human conditions exist and then work from there.

So why are you purporting the stupid idea that the US tax payers are responsible for the children of other countries? Why are you willing to reallocating monies potentially used to feed hungry US kids to these illegal immigrants and border violators? Did you think that the US government and the US tax payers are a bottomless source of monies?

By what justification do you feel that the tax payers are obligated to feed, support and house these illegal immigrant border violators?

The US has no such obligation to non citizens, other an humanitarian, which means they shouldn't be shot on sight, and the National Guard should turn them back at the border to avoid any further obligation, perceived obligation I might add, to these people.

Clearly you are an open border leftist, as you'd not even enforce any sort of border control by posting the National Guards there, to ensure respect of the US national sovereignty and US nation borders.

As generous as your definition of humanitarian is (dont shoot them on sight), the problem is that you dont understand that the Guard does not have the ability to apprehend anyone, and they cant turn unaccompanied minors back once they are on US soil, at least if you want to follow laws and technical stuff like that.

If this is a humanitarian crisis, as it looks like, the responsibility of the US is to manage it. While I realize you think feeding 50k kids is breaking the bank here.... its really not. Just consider it food aid that we dont have to ship to Honduras, because we can distribute it in Texas.

The humanitarian crisis is that there are parents in the world that would ship their children off to another country without any sort of assurance that they make it there.

The US shouldn't be the worlds policeman, but the US should be the world's eager recipient of all South American children? How's that figure?

This is all BS. These children don't belong in this country, they shouldn't be sent to this country, and this country should be accepting them. There are international adoption agencies, if you are so inclined. Put your own money where your own mouth is, and not everyone else's (tax payers). As you well know, the temporary housing, feeding and medical care of these children is only the start of the financial commitment. How expensive is it to actually raise children to adulthood? 'Cause that's what you are obligating the already over burdened US tax payers to. How nice and free spending you are with other people's money. Like I said, put your own money where your mouth is.
