Within minutes the cop wants what he wants or he is gonna break windows, arrest, etc.

For a guy just sitting in his care in a parking lot...

There is one common thread that exists in nearly all incidents like this one... Noncompliance. When a police officer asks you to exit your vehicle, you exit your vehicle. It's not a discussion, it's not a negotiation, it's a lawful order.

Whether you believe the actions of the officer(s) crossed the line, or you believe their actions were warranted, there is one thing we should all agree on... If the man had simply complied with the officer and got out of his car when he was asked, his window wouldn't have been broken, there wouldn't have been a physical confrontation leading to him being medically treated, and assuming his paper work was good, he probably wouldn't have been arrested.

Why is it nobody is the least bit interested in preventing situations like this from coming to a head in the first place?
.

Leave him alone.

He's on a mission! ;)

So, you think any hesitation or any questioning of an officer is a green light for them to go nuts?
They can destroy property and beat the crap out of anyone for simply wanting to know why they're being stopped or questioned?

You really do seem to want a police state where the police can demand instant obedience and can question or flat out arrest anyone at any time for anything and if there isn't anything they can just decide to start jostling you and then arrest you for assaulting a police officer when you resist or wasting police time if you question them.

That doesn't seem very American.

Funny how when you act like an asshole when dealing and interacting with Law Enforcement,, then the Police also act like assholes.
Thats quite a coincidence isnt it?
WHO KNEW?!?!?

First things first: FOLLOW POLICE INSTRUCTIONS and then you will be informed of why you are being stopped and questioned.

Act like an asshole, get treated like an asshole.
🤷‍♂️

As soon as a person behaves innappropriately, you seem to think that gives the cop a license to do whatever they damn well please.

Oh he didn't "comply" instantly, so I shot him 60 times... and you'd be ok with that, eh?

Members of the White Right Party (GOP) need to look up and memorize the meaning of "due process".

Except, if you're black, get treated like a corpse.

Cops are not empowered to do whatever they like just because a person is an asshole. They still have RULES.

I was a teacher... and by your logic if a kid talked back to me I could have simply dragged him out of his desk and stomped him, right?

Yeah, bow down to government authority no matter what. A truly conservative principle.

When's the last time you were asked to step out of your car during a traffic stop for speeding? That just doesn't happen unless they have reasonable suspicion of some other crime, or as is apparent in this case, they just want to go fishing.

Again there are plenty of videos of people complying and still being assaulted.
The police seem to have a problem coping with people who know the law better than they do and take it as an insult.
There are also plenty of videos of the police failing to identify or give any reason at all for a stop other than that they can.

The difference here is the police are not supposed to act like assholes just because someone is rude to them.
They have rules they must follow and ways in which they are allowed to treat the public they aren't above the law.
If a police officer can't handle verbal abuse they shouldn't be an officer and need to find a new career.

What would I have done?

I'd have followed the directions by the cop. Then, if I thought he had been unprofessional, I would go down to his precinct and filed a complaint. If I had no satisfaction, I would have asked to speak to the person in charge. If I didn't get satisfaction, I'd then go to the mayor and file a complaint.

That is how it is done.

All while being harassed and threatened with illegal arrest?
This may shock you but not everyone has the patience of a Vulcan and simply asking why you are being stopped does not give the police an excuse to do whatever they like. You seem to side with the police even in cases where there's obvious misconduct and claim people just exercising their right to stay silent or not complying with unlawful orders are in the wrong and should always just submit.

More than likely. (y)

Please state how he was being an asshole by standing calmly and looking at his phone?
What possible reason could there be to taze (sp?) someone in that situation? He was clearly unarmed and was not about to attack anyone.
Are you saying the police can taze anyone at any time for no reason?

The clip pretty clearly showed the officer assaulting someone.

I'm an older guy. I have banged my head against enough walls to finally be smart enough to work smarter. If I thought that the cop was out of line, I'm going to do something about it. I'm just going to be smart about it. Fighting a cop just isn't a smart thing to do. There is a difference between the smart thing to do and the "I have the right to do this" thing to do. WE should be teaching young people how to fight the system in a productive way.

I think we can also all agree that despite the non compliance, the office was wrong.

Here is another guy that was "just sitting in his car in a parking lot" last night, then he shot a cop in the head.

keep your eyes peeled everyone, especially if you are in Florida and especially Daytona Beach.

Lets help put this thug into in prison for good!!!

Could be any 1 of a million reasons that we are not aware of.

I dont look at video clips and YouTube and then start emoting my COP HATE, lol. I've learned better than that, I've learned from watching our wonderful media in action.(y)🤷‍♂️

I know! It's because we only have behavioral standards for cops and having such standards for anyone else is racism.

Social justice, baby!

I wonder if the Quinn Bass in the OP's story is the same one that filed this complaint in 2019 - https://casetext.com/case/bass-v-san-bernardino-cnty-sheriffs-dept
If so, the cops may have had indicators prior to engagement that Bass was a troublemaker. Such information would certainly have colored their approach, and reasonably so.

We don't actually want people like you sticking up for us. It has unpleasant connotations.

I don't hate cops.
The video showed a guy with a phone in his hands and not moving, there was zero justification for the use of force.
If you bother to watch it and still think force was justified I'm all ears for you to say why you feel it was.

Why is looking at a phone a reason for an officer to assault someone?

Yes, we have standards of conduct for police that are higher than normal what a shocker.
The difference being I as a citizen can't deprive you of your liberty and throw you in jail for little or no reason and I can't point a gun at you at the slightest hint of provocation or hint of threat and the police can and do.

The police aren't supposed to just be the biggest gang on the street.

So, you're saying that just because this happened everyone should be treated as potential cop killers?
