Working parents need the babysitter. But, other than that, there is no need for in-class schools, IMO.
You obviously aren't a parent... Or a working parent.
What I have seen is that in times like this, our grocery and pharmacy staff are seen as essential. I wonder if this crisis will give them the recognition they deserve and a living wage...
Do you have a specific reason why or is it just your general opinion?I just dont see it working
About closing all the Public schools
When this is all over, will people figure out that they may not need teachers/schooling after being educated online after all$$$$$$?
Oh my.....

Oh my.....
Christian schools already have avenues for students of all grades to learn at home.LMAO.... Based on what I have seen among parents in just a few days where I live, I suspect year round school is a more likely scenario....
I am fine with testing it on a small scale. But I see problems with small kids having the capacity to maintain attention at a computer all day
Which small kids?

It's exciting!
Given there is literally nothing taught in K-12 education that can't be learned in 1/10 of the time, and for FREE via the internet, we're going to potentially see a sound rejection of continued government waste on public schools.
The perceived value of "professional teachers" is going to wane as parents recognize that it takes exactly 0 special knowledge to teach and learn. Literally anyone can do it - because literally everyone does it.
We're also going to see that the importance of "socialization" is an absolute myth.
In this sense, these are very exciting times indeed!
And yes, we homeschooled our children. Best decision we ever made - according to them. We agree.
Kindergarten thru grade 5
How many of them are your responsibility?
Good luck with that...
Ah! You gotta love the optimism and creativity of the publicly educated!
No luck required. Just action.
And now, thanks to America's inability to think critically (brought to us by public education), action is going to be required! The irony is a thing of beauty!
We're already helping with our grandkids, and I'm loving it!
If I am voting I will vote for what I think is in the best interest of all American children
The little ones cant handle being on the computer all day

They will go right back to school after this is all over. My kid has no required work during this downtime
This publicly educated person knows that an anecdote proves nothing...

You really believe YOU should have a say in what anyone is doing with their children's education? That's not overstepping just a tad?
For example:
Your best, most creative thinking on the subject (to this point) leads you to believe that parents will plop their children in front of a computer, and what, learn via osmosis? Is that what you'd do to your kids?
That may be a valid objection and it may be more practical for older students. I have no objection with allowing communities to decide for themselves on a multitude of educational choices for their children.I am fine with testing it on a small scale. Thats fair enough to say that you will vote for whats in best interest of all children but if all children dont have the same best interest, it creates a conflict in your position. Whats in the best interest of small children may not be in the best interest in older children. Your using favortism to gude your choice if pick one over the other. Im not saying yourvwrong to do so but merely pointing out that we dont get to have it both ways. If you favor the little ones you are denying the bigger ones of an opprotunity for their best education possible and vice a versa if you choose to cater to the big ones. Either way somebody is being denied something. If I am voting I will vote for what I think is in the best interest of all American children
