Re: Americans Oppose 20-Week Abortion Bans When They’re Given More Context About The

That's a common trend. When presented with slogans and talking points, people tend to bend towards whatever direction the slogan points. But when given details, they make informed decisions. The best example of this has been Obamacare. It's very unpopular and everyone wants to get rid of it. Except that when asked about actual provisions in it, they overwhelmingly approve. Most times, when people have all the information, they make the right choice. That's why talking points and slogans are so dangerous (and so popular). They allow the truth to be oversimplified and distorted.

Participants were asked whether 20-week abortion bans should apply to women facing four different types of situations: those who would suffer health consequences if they continued the pregnancy, those who are carrying a non-viable fetus, those who became pregnant from rape or incest, and those who have discovered their fetuses have severe fatal abnormalities.

Is this really new information? When discussing such bans, I always understood them in the context of elective abortion

I didn't see a section on rape, but in the house bill there was a clear exception for health concerns

<<< Sec. 171.045. EXCEPTIONS. (a) The prohibitions and
requirements under Sections 171.042, 171.043, and 171.044 do not
apply to an abortion performed if there exists a condition that, in
the physician's reasonable medical judgment, so complicates the
medical condition of the woman that, to avert the woman's death or a
serious risk of substantial or irreversible physical impairment of
a major bodily function, other than a psychological condition, it
necessitates, as applicable:>>>
