It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.
Hmmm, so what do you think of Dear Leader, my dear readers?

I agree with the original post.
It is foolish for anyone to believe you can do anything about it. The wisest course is to accept the realty and shift your economic future into one centered around the government and residual structures. There are no careers secure in the private sector anymore. The only security is within government employment with your personal power base also government centered. Remember, the government is still hiring more people than ever. Its the private sector that is being rapidly shut down.

Well, I guess I should feel confident that I have a government job.

I do not think that the government ownership will last long. Typical of government fashion, after the businesses are once again profitable and secure, the government will sell its shares at a loss to stock investors who will make millions. The American Middle Class are the ones who will get screwed.

I'd say the wealthy have gotten pretty screwed on the whole GM/Chrysler thing.

The Middle Class still has their turn coming.

I find it interesting though that you fantasize that these businesses will ever again be truly profitable.

They will restructure, begin making Euro-type cars that get good gas milage and people will buy them. GM has had it coming for awhile, they over-extended and produced too many low-efficiency vehicles, so they will draw back and recover. Chrysler is simply over-priced. For the cost of a Chrysler vehicle one could actually purchase a Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes. Chrysler will not be profitable again, unless Fiat totally redefines what Chrysler is.

The government is essentially forcing its will upon the private sector by raising so many taxes. Gas prices are the way they are now because of increased federal taxes in addition to excessive taxation in hopes of subsidation of "alternative energy sources" which are - in no way, shape, or form - even close to being economically viable.

Everyone cares about the environment on an internet poll or survey, and everyone clamors about the green side of real during a non-election year. People are notorious, however, for putting their mouths where their money is, not the other way around.

People voted for an age of 1984-like abuse of power. Be careful what you wish for...

Such a pity that Dems didn't just yawn and stay home on Election Day, as they apparently did in History Class.

Haha I didn't need to be present for History classes. I excelled in history classes in High School with AP European and AP US History exams under my belt. I have not made less than an A in my Collegiate history classes or my Political Science classes.

please before you make absurd comments understand who you are talking to.

Just like steel, farms, and the railroads, right? Right?

Very well, you're an exception. You know history. And yet, you apparently still choose to be a minion of a Party that ignores it, else they would understand what happens when incompetents are placed into positions of vast power.

Pravda? Seriously...?

Dear God. I think the author needs to get out more often. Maybe visit the United States. We've seen worse days and we'll see better.

The mall I was at over the weekend was packed. Confidence will return.

Are you ready to throw in the towel, American?:)

Confidence is not what will restore the economy.

Even though we try to ignore Say's Law, it still exists.

This did not start with Obama. While Bush was in office, I referred to his supporters as the Bushneviks, and for good reason. That doesn't get Obama off the hook though. He is continuing the tradition. The point that I am making is that BOTH political parties are corrupt.

Also, I find it interesting that your source is Pravda. That's a bit ironic. LOL.
