It's the direction humanity is going towards given the ever increasing population and the continued growth of global interconnectivity. Part of what humanity needs to get over is that ancient tribal mentality, because we can certainly keep and celebrate all sorts of cultures and customs, but in the context of the larger whole. The interesting thing here is you joke about the ideal, but it's the change that's been going on since the history of this country, and well before that, the history of the world. The difference is it's been far less harmonious, and much more conflict driven.
