After watching tv the past several days I'm wondering if I'm understanding the republicans on television and on here.

Nobody has the right to ask the president or one of his cronies anything.

Or, putting it another way, the president has the absolute power to tell everyone to go screw themselves he doesn't have to listen to anyone or abide by any law.

Is this correct?

Yep, that's pretty much it. There is only one branch of government - the Trump branch. Only Trump gets to decide whether or not he is abusing his authority. Only Trump gets to decide about frivolous, insignificant issues, such as Congressional oversight, honoring subpoenas, and the rule of law.

And that's the way all the Trump cultists want it. Sad, scary, and dangerous as hell, but true.

No, that's not correct.

You should stop watching TV and do two things:

Read the letter that Trump sent to Pelosi. White House Letter - Impeachment Group | United States House Of Representatives | Due Process Clause

Read the White House background outline. Subject: Background Press Call on Letter to the House of Representatives

These two resources will give you the exact position of Trump and his administration with no spin from talking potato heads.

You are correct. The President has absolute power to tell everyone to go screw themselves.

He can thank Obama for that.

That would be wonderful, if it were a trial, it's not. Moot points.

If Hillary Clinton did something like this, I seriously doubt it would be good enough for Repug hypocrites such as yourself. Funny how the goal posts move when a Repug is caught committing wrongdoing.

Nobody...and particularly not the Trump administration...have said the impeachment is a trial.

Not to worry. Hillary isn't...and never will be...President.

That's really getting funnier every day. Trump is the one abusing the power of his office by claiming only he can decide whether or not he's guilty of abuse of power. See how ****ed up this government got?

No worries you hypocrites have already shown you ignore the law. Thank you for proving us right about trump supporters.

Not to worry. Hillary isn't...and never will be...President.

Yet she had the guts to testify before Repugs in Congress about bull**** Benghazi for 11 hours. Something your ***** hero Trump is too chicken **** to do.

I see it. Unfortunately, these unsophisticated Trump cultist goobers can't.

You should read what a US judge said about Trump's immunity...

"...On Monday, the US district judge Victor Marrero in Manhattan described the immunity argument as “extraordinary” and as “an overreach of executive power [that was] repugnant to the nation’s governmental structure and constitutional values”...

In a 75-page decision, the judge added: “The court cannot square a vision of presidential immunity that would place the president above the law.”

There's no spin there, either.

Then why are they hollering about 'due process'?

Trump should have hired a better impeachment attorney, his letter is actually laughable. Attorney Pat Cipollone argued the investigation is "invalid" because there has not been a formal vote to open an impeachment inquiry. Nancy Pelosi doesn't need a formal vote to open an impeachment inquiry and if Cipollone knew what he was talking about, he should have known that. The Constitution states in Article 1, Section 5, Congress has the power to “determine the Rules of its Proceedings” — including in the context of impeachment. Will Nancy Pelosi hold an authorizing vote? It’s not likely in the aftermath of the White House letter, because it would most likely be portrayed as caving to the White House’s demands and yielding power over the congressional agenda to the president, I doubt Nancy Pelosi would do that now.

Nancy Pelosi could treat Trump’s lack of cooperation as one more impeachable offense, add it to whatever the House decides to do about Trump’s phone call with Ukraine’s president, and impeach Trump on those grounds. If Nancy Pelosi does choose to brawl over documents, she’s likely to win in court more than she loses. The House in its impeachment power can seek evidence from the executive, and the courts are likely to agree when its requests are reasonable and related to the alleged offenses being investigated.

Lindsey Graham said he would invite Rudolph W. Giuliani to testify before his panel. Good, I'll love to see that. Come on Rudy, pretty please agree to testify? Cipollone's letter is also troubling for what it signals about the White House’s view of congressional authority.

Why don’t you tell everyone which law was broken.
Why don’t you explain why there hasn’t been a vote on impeachment if the evidence is so clear against Trump.
Why don’t you explain why republicans have no subpoena power during this witch-hunt inquiry. Of course a partisan inquiry is always fair and just.

Because this is a fishing expedition.

They have nothing, they expect to get clobbered in the next election, and they are getting desperate. So, they are trying to find something, anything to stave off the landslide.

I thought we were talking about impeachment.

In any case, that judge is entitled to his ruling...but it is being appealed. We'll see how it goes.

Then why are they hollering about 'due process'?

They are "hollering" about a lot of things. And guess what..."due process" is included in impeachment proceedings.
