Alina Habba is "personna non grata" at her law school.

I will play devil's advocate here. First, even if a "trial practice" course, or something similar is offered in law school, it really can't prepare attorneys for all the nuances of real trial practice. Only actual experience does that, and she doesn't have much trial experience.

Lastly, while her law school is ranked towards the bottom, the state bar exams are often great equalizers. And she did pass the NY state bar which is notoriously tough.
Can't be all that tough...

I wasn't aware that she was primarily a real estate attorney.

Do you agree she's way out of her league? I'd almost feel sorry for her if she was representing anyone but POS trump. Almost....
Oh, no doubt she is out of her league.

And while some of Judge Kaplan's rebukes of her during the trial come across as perhaps too harsh, one has to remember that prior to trial, there were no doubt multiple motions, discovery disputes etc. that had to be argued before the court. And Habba no doubt tried the same crap then as she is now. And Kaplan is not having any of it.

Right out of the gate, Habba and Trump violated what I would consider 3 cardinal rules of jury trials: don't give the jury any reason to dislike you as an attorney; reason to dislike your client; and don't EVER appear to be treating the judge with anything but respect.

She'd rather be pretty than smart, because she thinks she can fake being smart lol.

Meanwhile, she's demonstrated a fundamental lack of understanding about what is and is not hearsay, and she tried to offer evidence as "impeachment" instead of "evidence". That was after the judge had to explain to her the basic processes of submitting evidence in court.

Among idiots, yes. The problem is you eventually get found out, and her clock ran out a while back.

I did a series of posts on another thread about this. I'm not going to cross post, but I am going to repost a link and quote:

E. Jean Carroll judge bench-slaps Trump's attorney 14 times over basic lawyering in a single day of testimony (Busn. Insider)

(I admit I picked this headline because I loved the pun "Bench-slap")

"Throughout the day, and with Carroll herself on the stand, US District Judge Lewis Kaplan rebuked Habba from the bench, often schooling her in basic law in mini-lectures that showed mounting impatience.

At one point, the judge tersely interrupted the lawyer, telling her, "sit down."

Here, in chronological order, are fourteen times Habba was taken to task on Wednesday by the fed-up judge."

Once would have caused me to seriously question my life choices. 14 times makes me think there are some kinky aspects to this....

I think Joe Tacopino and Habba share blame for this debacle with Trump. Tacopino quit, late, leaving someone to step in. Habba volunteered. Habba has demonstrated the reality of Dunning Kruger and thought she was ready. If she weren't so arrogant, I'd feel sorry for her. But I just can't.

Hmmmm, lets see, Tacopina bailed on trump days ago, so that leaves who exactly? "Better attorneys" may be a bit of a stretch!
Damn, Tacopina must have really been pissed to end up on Al Sharpton's show.

I guess Tacopina couldn't keep working for Dirty Don.
