Alice in Chains Man in the Box - the jazz edition

Dirt album was my introduction to AIC. Was an exciting time after a lull following the fall of hair metal genre.

STP's CORE album came out at the same time and is awesome as well.

Tragic ending for many lead singers of that era. Many song subjects were serious and some would say depressing. Some of what they wrote about was happening at the end of the eighties in society.

There's a documentary called The Decline of Western Civilization II The Metal Years that touches on the era including some disturbing decline of members of bands. Kinda dovetails nicely with the beginnings of the Grunge era.

What interesting of both eras was how exploitative record companies execs and agents could be. Many didn't give a shit what happened to many bands or members after sales and interest waned.

Highly recommend the documentary. My apologies to Chock for derailing the thread in post two.

Clip is indicative of destructive behaviors that befall many artist of those eras.

No worry of a derail. Staley, Cobain, Cornell... WTF.

So much emotion and fitting/great voices. Shame addictions, personal issues took them away.
AiC's bandmates tried...😔

Think a lot of pain under the surface came out in their songs.

Yeah, so much emotion felt in their lyrics.

Was definitely 'a time', though I was hitting 18-20 about mid 90s, so may be partial to it as many would with the music from their coming of age era.

Some damn good tunes though.

Off note: On the heavy end, seeing Pantera here on the 22nd.
