It's official, Al Franken has announced he will enter the Minnesota Senate race.
Can Rush be far behind?
Al Franken enters Minn. Senate race - Yahoo! News
MINNEAPOLIS - Comedian Al Franken said Wednesday he will run for the Senate in 2008, challenging Republican incumbent Norm Coleman (news, bio, voting record).
Franken's announcement came on the final day of his radio show on Air America. The decision by the former "Saturday Night Live" performer instantly makes him a serious contender and brings national attention to the race.
"Minnesotans have a right to be skeptical about whether I'm ready for this challenge, and to wonder how seriously I would take the responsibility that I'm asking you to give me," Franken said in a video on his Web site
I like Kinky Friedman to tell you the truth, probably would have voted for him if I were a Texan a well, he had more credibility to me than most of the other governers in that race. Ventura kind of fizzled but he had some good initial ideas, Franken's just a bitter, B-list celebrity with no credibility IMOFrom the same state that gave us Jesse Ventura. Minnesota is weird. Of course, I am in no position to judge, since I voted for Kinky Friedman, here in Texas. LOL.
Paul Wellstone was a nice guy from what I understand, he was someone you could genuinely disagree with and still hold a friendly relationship. If Franken idolized him then he needs to show it, he spends too much time attacking people who don't agree with him. As a sidebar, I think it was tacky for some attending the Wellstone funeral to turn it into a political pep rally, it was a shame the former politician died so suddenly, we need more people who debate like the former representative(whether I agree with the position or not).Paul Wellstone is Franken's political idol, and one of mine too. I expect him to clean Norm Coleman's clock.
What would be the point? Rush is comfortable with his position and a raging success at it, he would truly have nothing to gain by leaving the talk radio circuit for government. Franken has failed at just about everything, if he could get the government job it would be a step up.BTW- I'd LOVE to see Rush run for something, just to watch him squirm.
:rofl Let's add one stipulation to your punishment, he has to do the Stuart Smalley impression while walking nude across Minnesota and being pelted with stones. "Because I'm good enough.....*ow*.....I'm smart enough....*ow* *damnit*......and gosh darn it....*oof*.....people like me".**** Al Franken up his stupid worthless *******. He lives the stereotype of the stupid pompous liberal who's entirely vanished up his own ***. I hope he fails miserably. That's too light, I hope he is publicly humiliated and has to walk nude across the state of Minnesota crying while people laugh at him and pelt him with stones and rotten fruits and vegetables.

What a joke Franken is......Cindy Sheehan will be next to run........
I don't know enough about the Minnesota electorate to speculate either way to tell you the truth, but history has shown that anyone who runs can win. I am not a Franken fan and don't like the idea of him creating law, but it is his right to run and the people in that state have to make their own decision, I will, however, pray for them.NP, if you think Franken will lose - he's sure to win! (-:
I will, however, pray for them.
Cool. Since statistically, prayer usually has the opposite effect, pray away.
Could we see those statistics?
