It's official, Al Franken has announced he will enter the Minnesota Senate race.

Can Rush be far behind?

Al Franken enters Minn. Senate race - Yahoo! News

MINNEAPOLIS - Comedian Al Franken said Wednesday he will run for the Senate in 2008, challenging Republican incumbent Norm Coleman (news, bio, voting record).

Franken's announcement came on the final day of his radio show on Air America. The decision by the former "Saturday Night Live" performer instantly makes him a serious contender and brings national attention to the race.

"Minnesotans have a right to be skeptical about whether I'm ready for this challenge, and to wonder how seriously I would take the responsibility that I'm asking you to give me," Franken said in a video on his Web site

From the same state that gave us Jesse Ventura. Minnesota is weird. Of course, I am in no position to judge, since I voted for Kinky Friedman, here in Texas. LOL.

What a joke Franken is......Cindy Sheehan will be next to run........

I like Kinky Friedman to tell you the truth, probably would have voted for him if I were a Texan a well, he had more credibility to me than most of the other governers in that race. Ventura kind of fizzled but he had some good initial ideas, Franken's just a bitter, B-list celebrity with no credibility IMO

:rofl Let's add one stipulation to your punishment, he has to do the Stuart Smalley impression while walking nude across Minnesota and being pelted with stones. "Because I'm good enough.....*ow*.....I'm smart enough....*ow* *damnit*......and gosh darn it....*oof*.....people like me".

Al Franken is right...

NP, if you think Franken will lose - he's sure to win! (-:
I don't know enough about the Minnesota electorate to speculate either way to tell you the truth, but history has shown that anyone who runs can win. I am not a Franken fan and don't like the idea of him creating law, but it is his right to run and the people in that state have to make their own decision, I will, however, pray for them.

Could we see those statistics?

He's going to cite a study that was reported in the NYT a while back showing that using a "control" group of people who were told they weren't being prayed for recovered from illness faster than a group that was told they were being prayed for by a church out in the midwest that was instructed to pray for this specific group of patients.

The methodology of the study is significantly flawed however, and it endeavors to answer an untestable hypothesis, so feel free to neglect it when he does post it.
