AG William Barr says 'spying did occur' on Trump campaign, is reviewing whether it was lawful

Attorney General William Barr told a Senate panel that he is reviewing whether federal authorities improperly spied on the Trump campaign during the now-completed inquiry into whether the campaign conspired with the Kremlin.

"Spying on a campaign is a big deal," Barr told a Senate panel Wednesday. "I think spying did occur. The question is whether it was adequately predicated."

The attorney general said he planned to examine the "genesis and the conduct" of the FBI's investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, launched in the midst of the 2016 presidential run. The inquiry was ultimately turned over to special counsel Robert Mueller to complete, and Barr has said it concluded that President Donald Trump's campaign did not conspire with the Russian government.

IMO, Barr will find that there was a political coup, a take down of Trump as a prospective presidential candidate and then, president. This should never ever happen to another presidential candidate/president again.

Barr proved today he has consumed far too much of the right wing Kool-aid and it has fried his brain.

It's about to get real.

As in real evidence about real crimes committed. The Dems tried to distract from what really happened with this ludicrous collusion nonsense.

Let's see what abuses the FBI and DNC committed together, shall we?

Lawful spying of a presidential campaign?

Yeah, buddy! That post isn't going to age well.

As in, it's going to be fun to watch those who actually believe that nonsense run from it and pretend they never believed it.

You forgot to add Barack Obama, the Clintons, Loretta Lynch, Leon Panetta, Donna Brazile, Adam Schiff, and everyone else to your post. You're slipping.

Ever read your Putin and Trump posts back to yourself? How did they age?

So let's see... investigations by Mueller all good until they turned up nothing. Got it.

AG Barr knows Trump and his campaign were spied on, and it's his job to see if that spying was performed legally.
Why do you object?

The unlawful use of the FISA courts and the unmasking that occurred are just the beginning.

Communications between Comey and the DNC to cover up what happened are coming to light.

You lose. Again. Has to be getting old.

IMO, wild, unhinged and comical fantasies should never be the basis of an opinion.

"Coup"? LOL! Words have meanings.

Oh there will be a legal coup come Nov 2020.

What exactly do you think Bill and Loretta were discussing on the tarmac? Or were they just doing the nasty? It is Bill Clinton after all.

Brazile did provide the questions to Hillary, did she not?

Nothing got through the FISA process without Obama knowing.

Schiff is just a lap dog. And such a pathetic man at that.

Oh yes, this had to be complicit.

Barr is up next. And he showed you yesterday he is leagues beyond the abilities of your retarded leaders.

Can we get to have a peek at the communications between Comey and the DNC?

Such unlawful use didn't happen, nor can you or anyone else demonstrate otherwise. Even that hack Barr, testifying under oath, said "I think a presidential campaign was surveilled by the government" then backs off when challenged on it and says, "I have no specific evidence that I would cite right now. I do have questions about it." IOW, "I don't actually know anything, but I SUSPECT!!!"

That is incredibly irresponsible on the part of the AG, and give any rational observer the impression that he's auditioning for a show and time-slot on Fox.

I can see why people like you place your faith in him.

Magical thinking, all the way down.

What is important here is that he was clear that the spying is not necessarily illegal. He said it depends upon the "predicate".

What that means is that he is going to be looking at Brennan. He is going to be looking at the EC that Brennan sent to the FBI that caused the start of Crossfire Hurricane.

Remember when Nunes was talking about the EC way back in 2017? Well, THAT'S the predicate.

Brennan is toast and the dominoes will fall.

btw, the NYT is trying to get ahead of the story to save THEIR credibility...remember how they were saying that anyone talking about Halper was getting into CT territory?

The inspector general is also scrutinizing another early source of information for the Russia investigation, the people said: Mr. Horowitz’s investigators have been asking questions about the role of Stefan A. Halper, another F.B.I. informant, and his prior work for the bureau.

Agents involved in the Russia investigation asked Mr. Halper, an American academic who teaches in Britain, to gather information on Mr. Page and George Papadopoulos, another former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser.

Justice Dept. Watchdog’s Review of Russia Inquiry Is Nearly Done, Barr Says - The New York Times

Oh, and btw, that action by Halper happened BEFORE there was a Russian investigation. Think about it...

Very well, thanks.

Lie #1: we don't know what Mueller turned up, since Trump's stooge hasn't released his report.
AG Barr knows Trump and his campaign were spied on, and it's his job to see if that spying was performed legally.
Why do you object?

Lie #2: It's already known that it was done legally.

I don't know what they were discussing on the tarmac. Were you there? Please share the transcript with me so I can know what they were discussing, too.

Yes, Brazile provided questions to Clinton. If I was Bernie Sanders, I'd be really pissed about that. What does that have to do with spying on the Trump campaign?

Obama approved every FISA request? Link, please.

My retarded leaders? The Republicans are in the White House and control the Senate. Are you calling Trump and McConnell retarded? That isn't nice.

I think the Cleveland Browns will win the Super Bowl next year. So place your bets now, because what we "think" means IT WILL HAPPEN!

Spying they call it. This term was specifically shopped around with focus groups because of the negative connotations.

The FBI investigated the Trump campaign, and quite clearly had reason to do so.

Actually, he said "I think spying did occur", if your link is correct.

Good eye there, Sherlock. You are right about the USA Today link reading incorrectly
.
“Yes, I think spying did occur,” Barr said. “But the question is whether it was predicated — adequately predicated, and I’m not suggesting that it wasn’t adequately predicated, but I need to explore that. I think it’s my obligation. Congress is usually concerned about intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies staying in their proper lane, and I want to make sure that happened. We have a lot of rules about that.”

Well, well, well...doesn't that highlighted part sound familiar? Isn't that what everyone has been saying about Trump for years? Isn't that the justification for countless investigations and speculation?

All that stuff is okay because...well, because it's Trump, right? But it's NOT okay when it's someone who is connected to the Obama administration.

It doesn't match your subject line was my point. No need to be rude and call me "Sherlock". I wasn't rude to you.
