Trump issued an executive order that violates our Constitution while Republicans continue their silence.

NBC reports, "Trump will end birthright citizenship, the right of children born in the U.S. to claim citizenship regardless of their parents' immigration status.

"Birthright citizenship has been understood to be required under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.”

"To change the Constitution would require approval from two-thirds of Congress and ratification by three-quarters of states, an extremely high bar. Democrats and some legal groups have vowed to challenge in court any Trump attempt to do away with birthright citizenship."

The point is this. What other parts of the Constitution does Trump not like? What laws doesn't he like? Does anyone seriously think this will end with birthright citizenship?

Why do Republicans support authoritarianism?

CNN reports, "President Donald Trump signed executive actions Monday and cemented his intent to double down on fossil fuels and reverse America’s progress on climate change and clean energy, including signing orders to pull United States out of the Paris climate agreement.

"Trump’s day-one actions come as climate change-fueled fires ravage Southern California, following the globe’s hottest year on record during which two major hurricanes – Helene and Milton – devastated the Southeast."

"President Trump famously declared during his 2016 campaign that he loved the “poorly educated” because rural voters with lower levels of schooling delivered an overwhelming share of votes to him," the conservative Washington Times."

Only the poorly educated would agree with Trump. Note their silence on the issues. Their forte is cracking jokes.
 
The biggest problem with the convicted felon in the Oval office is he can't be trusted. Trump is a prolific liar who fantasizes to prove a point. Fact checking his statements is a full-time job.

ABC reports, "Enrique Tarrio, the former head of the Proud Boys, and Stewart Rhodes, the head of the Oath Keepers, were released Tuesday from prison following President Donald Trump's sweeping pardon of those convicted in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

"They were serving 22- and 18-year sentences, respectively, for their roles in the riot.

"A federal judge sentenced Rhodes in May 2023 after he was convicted of seditious conspiracy the year prior for his and his group's role in the riot. The Oath Keepers had stockpiled weapons at a D.C. hotel and organized the attack, according to prosecutors."

Through it all, Republicans, responsible for a convicted felon becoming our President, continue their silence.

Why is it we have not heard from Republicans on this matter

With some minor exceptions, we have not heard from Senate Republicans. We have not heard from the Speaker of the House, and House Republicans largely remain silent.

The forum's Republicans have not said a thing.

Republicans are responsible for the pardoning of convicted felons who ransacked our capitol and attacked the police, and they say nothing! They do not even try to justify the pardons.

Conclusion: The pardons never should have happened and they know it. The Republican President is out of control, and Republicans know that, too.

Embarrassed by their vote, the forum's Republicans will continue their silence.

The Supreme Court gave this man immunity from prosecution, and now Trump is taking out his revenge on prosecutors.

"Those who have been sidelined at the DOJ headquarters in Washington include senior lawyers in the criminal division as well as the national security division, which in the past has been insulated from shifting political winds, and prosecutors who work on international affairs, which handles extraditions and immigration matters, the sources said."

"Judge Aileen Cannon, in an order issued one day after Trump's inauguration, offered a scathing criticism of the Department of Justice's "startling" conduct and willingness to "gamble" with the rights of Trump's former co-defendants by attempting to allow four members of Congress to review Smith's final report as directed by DOJ policy.

"Prosecutors play a special role in our criminal justice system and are entrusted and expected to do justice," Cannon wrote. "The Department of Justice's position on Defendants' Emergency Motion ... has not been faithful to that obligation."

Providing the defense with a look at the prosecution's case is not being faithful? In attempting to protect the felon, a federal judge said that.

Efforts to re-allocate congressional funding to build a border wall and refusing to spend money appropriated by Congress for environmental policies would also most likely be challenged.

"It is where Trump administration officials intend to invoke new or previously untested theories that they are most likely to lose, even with a Supreme Court that has a 6-3 conservative majority with three Trump appointees."

"Sen. Thom Tillis, a Republican from North Carolina, who has warned before about giving a blanket pardon to the rioters, said, “I just can’t agree” with Trump’s decision to commute the sentences or pardon a vast swath of January 6 insurrection participants.

"He added the move “raises a legitimate safety issues on Capitol Hill” before also attacking former President Joe Biden’s pardons in his final hours in office.

"Trump’s executive action, which many GOP senators had hoped would be directed at only nonviolent offenders who entered the Capitol that day, thrust Republicans once again into a familiar posture of navigating how and when to distance themselves from the sitting president and leader of their party. And Republicans largely attempted to sidestep direct questions about whether they personally agreed with Trump’s action, arguing it was up to the president to use his pardon powers at his discretion."

Republicans will be responsible for what happen to us in the next four years. The forum's Republicans have nothing to say.

Republicans should keep in mind that Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do. Americans have given him control of the White House, the Senate, the House, and the Supreme Court.

Trump promised his loyal flock he would end the war in Ukraine in a day. They believed him.

Today Trump threatened Russia with sanctions if they don't end the war.

Trump said he would place a 25% tariff on goods from Mexico and Canada.

Trump "promised national power so great that it could “stop all wars,” and expand the nation’s territory."

Trump is a prolific liar. He creates fantasies to support his positions.

We cannot trust a single thing he says. He lies that much.

We should pay attention only to what Trump does, not what he says he will do.

NBC reports, "House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., announced Wednesday the creation of a new select subcommittee to investigate events before and after Jan. 6, 2021.

“House Republicans are proud of our work so far in exposing the false narratives peddled by the politically motivated January 6 Select Committee during the 117th Congress, but there is still more work to be done,” Johnson said in a statement.

"The subcommittee’s mission is to “uncover the full truth that is owed to the American people,” Johnson said."

What is confusing is that one would think the very last thing Trump would want is another investigation into Jan. 6.

Far right extremist groups loyal to Trump ransacked our capital, threatened the vice-president, attacked police, and they did so due to President Trump's order and deception. The deception being Trump's insistence that the 2020 election was stolen from him. There is no way to get away from those facts. Insisting that grandma was caught by events will only go so far before becoming ridiculous.

Republicans won the Presidency, the Senate, and the House. One would think they would be rejoicing.

Instead, they say nothing. That is very strange. Following the election victories, Republicans went into hiding.

NBC reports, "A federal district court judge on Thursday temporarily blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at limiting birthright citizenship — the first skirmish in what promises to be a protracted legal battle over the new administration’s agenda.

"Senior U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour heard 25 minutes of arguments and then issued an order from the bench blocking the policy from taking effect for 14 days. There will be a further briefing on a preliminary injunction to permanently block the executive order while the case proceeds.

"I’ve been on the bench for over four decades," Coughenour, a Ronald Reagan appointee, said. "I can’t remember another case where the question presented is as clear as this one. This is a blatantly unconstitutional order."

"There is a high bar to amend the Constitution. A proposed amendment needs the backing of two-thirds of the House and Senate or a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of state legislatures. A proposed amendment must then be ratified by three-fourths of the states. Republicans do not hold a two-thirds majority in the House or Senate."

Trump has the full support of the Republican Party, and forum Republicans will continue their silence on the issues.
