A record 4.3 million workers walked off the job in August

Easy. You have businesses competing for employees. The ones that raise wages get employees. The ones that don't, don't.
Who are they competing against. You do understand why this is happening right?

It's as if the labor MARKET doesn't exist for righties.

When I buy a car, I decide how much I am going to spend. Let's say $2000. Then I run around to all the new car lots and ask to buy a new car, for $2000.

Amazingly enough, NONE of the new car dealers will sell to me, even though I am allowing/forcing them to compete.

It's almost as if there is a flaw in the right wing business ideal.

Are you suggesting that nobody is hiring ANYONE right now?

If righties ever read what Adam Smith actually said and not what they believe that he said, they'd find that he was surprisingly economically liberal by today's standards.

I'm suggesting they've being forced to compete against an insurance policy that they paid for.

I thought the tax cuts in 2017 were supposed to be the best thing ever?
Companies aren't investing in their employees? What? Jeez. Where'd all that money go?
The trickle down is coming, friend! Job creators need all the help they can get!

/sarcasm

Absolutely, in some cases. Should Joe Sixpack take a shit job for no financial difference, just for the sake of the businesses? Is this communism?

Boom. Boom, I say!

What I find almost bizarro about this thread and the conservative responses is that apparently they would rather supplement low wages with their tax dollars...food stamps, earned wage credits and more....than expect the business to bear those costs. Sounds positively what they would call progressive socialism. Do they ever really stop and think?

No, they clearly are not capable of thinking.

Right wingers: "If you don't like your job, go find another one."

Employees: "Okay."

Right wingers: "Wait. Not like that."
And they should be looking for new jobs. The days of spending your entire career at a single business is over. People should ALWAYS shop their labor to the highest bidder.

I wonder how many of the right wingers posting in this thread think they should be paid slave wages for their labor.

Yes, there is zero point in being loyal to employers who are proudly vocal about them not valuing you.

Pretty sure he's the most misquoted man since Jesus.
Thomas Jefferson was about as liberal a founder as you could get, but a strict constitutionalist today.

Yeah, and there are changes in "decorum" essentially that are happening too. Like it's no longer taboo to speak about raises or salary with others. Everyone should know what others are making to know if they're being valued appropriately for similar job titles. There's nothing wrong with this. My labor is mine and if you want it, you're gonna have to pay. End of story.

Ask them.

I know. Your idea of a good job is a $7 an hour hamburger slinging job, right? Or cleaning the bathrooms in Mom & Pop Hotel?
It's honest work, more hones than sitting at home. Cheating the laws of economics isn't make the situation any better for these people? Ask they what they've been living on.

Were you bitching about the debt as Trump added nearly 7 trillion in just 4 years? Or is it only an issue now that the R changed to a D?
As a matter of fact I was. I stated clearly and often that it was trumps greatest failing.

Why did you quote me and whine about sitting at home?

Don't be bitter because people can get better jobs. Try it for yourself.

My workplace is unionized, and on a similar time in service/time in grade scale as the military uses (though it's obviously not as puny). I know how much my partner makes, because it's posted on the wall.

You have to wonder what righties' motives are here, don't you? It's as if they WANT poor people to stay poor.

So much for "pulling oneself up by the bootstraps."

The last thing I'm going to worry about is your opinion of what honest work is.

If I were in a shit job right now, the most commonsense decision for me would be to get sacked and go on unemployment, so I would have the time and energy to find a better job. If that decision isn't optimal for you, tough shit.
