I think if you review their coverage of Trump, you could conclude the idea was to embarrass the Republican Party, and push the lies the media created about racism, etc..

The objective was to tarnish every GOP candidate and the party itself, given their partnership with Hillary Clinton and the liberal/socialist progressive party.

They didn't count on everyday Americans seeing through their deceit and collusion and giving their support to someone who was going against the status quo.

In the end, journalism will never recover from their public suicide. The devil will always get his due.
