A hunter in Virginia has died after a bear shot in a tree fell on him

What’s up with this? Usually the hunter is in the tree, or so I’ve heard….
Might have been hunting with dogs. That's legal in some places.

I have no experience hunting bears in trees, but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to shoot at an angle so the bear doesn't fall on you.

The now dead man wasn’t the shooter.

A hunting group was following the bear when it ran up the tree, the department said. As the group retreated from the tree, a hunter shot the bear. The animal fell onto another hunter, who was standing about 10 feet (3 meters) from the bottom of the tree.

Bear was shot, climbed tree to get away. Replace shooting fish in a barrel with shooting bears in a tree.

Um, how drunk was he that he didn't see a bear obeying the law of gravity?

Had a similar thing happen years back. Shot a luckily much smaller animal out of a tree that landed on a friend and clawed him up a little. Nothing serious, but like in this story we were both thinking we were well clear of where the animal would fall. Bounced off a couple of branches on the way down and ended up falling well away from where we expected.
