I think it's wrong these people were fired. There are relatively few jobs for which private hate speech should be a fireable offense (leadership & teaching roles would be exceptions, and only with a contractual clause in effect). That said, what I found particularly stupid from several of these teary laments was the outrage over someone reporting the fired worker's public statements made on publicly accessible social media platforms. Seriously, how dumb can one person get?
