Gina Haspel, President Donald Trump’s nominee for CIA director, is facing a tough confirmation hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee Wednesday over her controversial role in the Bush-era torture program.

But her latest critic isn’t a human rights group or a Democratic senator — it’s Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (commonly referred to by his initials, KSM) was the sinister architect of the terror attacks that killed more than 3,000 innocent people on September 11, 2001.

He was also tortured by the CIA, including being waterboarded — that is, held down and repeatedly suffocated by having water poured over a cloth into his mouth and nose until he was near drowning — 183 times over 15 sessions while in US custody.

He’s currently sitting in the US prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba — and he’s apparently got something to say about Gina Haspel.
=====================================
The news last night said that he wanted his statement read to the Senators voting on her nomination. It was up to a military judge at Gitmo as to whether the written statement would be released.

No Military Judge will release the statement. The UCMJ is a farce. KSM is in Guantanamo because he was tortured and any evidence against him is "fruit of a tainted tree" and inadmissable in a Stateside Court of Law. That means they'd have no case and be required to release him. Ergo Guantanamo, not stateside, and immune to Stateside law. He is a worthless scumbag, but represents "Kangaroo Court" Jusitce in the USA.

So what? They call him a mastermind for a reason, and he got you hook, line and sinker. Keep 'em coming.

What is clear is that Gina Haspel participated in the waterboarding and the enhanced interrogation of renditioned prisoner Abd al Rahim al Nashiri (August-September 2002) at the CIA's secret Detention Site Green hidden inside the Royal Thai Air Force base at Udon Thani. Haspel also typed up the draft at the behest of her superior (DDO Jose Rodriquez) ordering the destruction of 92 videotapes of torture at Detention Site Green including video's of Haspel's involvement.

Trumps campaign words are also germane; “I would bring back waterboarding, and I’d bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding.” [GOP Primary Debate / New Hampshire / Saturday 6 February 2016]

Bobby Scott: After WWII U.S. executed Japanese for war crimes including waterboarding | PolitiFact Virginia

The June 1942 Doolittle B-25 raid against Japanese cities was the psychological equivalent of 9/11 to the Japanese, who felt insulated from attack by the vast Pacific Ocean. They were desperate to find out where the bombers had come from & some accounts refer to the captured crewmen being waterboarded in order to extract that information. There is scattered evidence that Japanese military men were tried for war crimes after the war, including water boarding. If it was a war crime in 1942, why is it now OK 76 years later?

Great!

So if we convince enough people to call Trump a moron, he will be a moron?

They call him so he must be.

Hey, Trump's a satanist.

There, he's been called a satanist so he is.

Boom shak a laka

Captured crewmen of the Enola Gay?

They were not captured, both missions ended successfully landing at the base on Tinian.

I am not sure about prosecutions of those who practiced torture, the Japanese system was more aimed at those who had ordered it. In that sense it was a religious violation not just a legal one.

Many of those found guilty of torture were themselves tortured as punishment.

Did he or did he not help plan the attacks of 9/11?

Doolittle had nothing to do with the Enola Gay a bombing. It was a B25 strike in 1942 off the carrier Hornet.

You Libs sure loved John Brennan when you all got him to be the CIA director. And he loves waterboarding.

Stupid and ignorant opening to the post. One I am not "one of you libs" I am a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. Two, I have no ****ing idea who is John Brennan nor do I care.

The base, and I mean really ****ing simple, is that the poster attributed something to a group of people that he could NOT possiby know and was asserting that because "they say..." then it must be true.

How the **** John Brennan gets into that I have no idea, but we have made clear the point you're posts aren't worth reading.

Why the **** would anyone want to know someone named John Brennan who is no longer whatever he was and doesn't even live in my country.

As usual I ave no ****ing idea what you are talking about..

If this i wrong, tell them...I really don't give a ****

After leaving Tinian, the aircraft made their way separately to Iwo Jima, where they rendezvoused at 2,440 meters (8,010 ft) and set course for Japan. The aircraft arrived over the target in clear visibility at 9,855 meters (32,333 ft). Captain William S. "Deak" Parsons of Project Alberta, who was in command of the mission, armed the bomb during the flight to minimize the risks during takeoff. His assistant, Second Lieutenant Morris R. Jeppson, removed the safety devices 30 minutes before reaching the target area.[13]

The release at 08:15 (Hiroshima time) went as planned, and the Little Boy took 43 seconds to fall from the aircraft flying at 31,060 feet (9,470 m) to the predetermined detonation height about 1,968 feet (600 m) above the city. Enola Gay traveled 11.5 mi (18.5 km) before it felt the shock waves from the blast.[14] Although buffeted by the shock, neither Enola Gay nor The Great Artiste was damaged.[15]

The detonation created a blast equivalent to 16 kilotons of TNT (67 TJ).[16] The U-235 weapon was considered very inefficient, with only 1.7% of its fissile material reacting.[17] The radius of total destruction was about one mile (1.6 km), with resulting fires across 4.4 square miles (11 km2).[18] Americans estimated that 4.7 square miles (12 km2) of the city were destroyed. Japanese officials determined that 69% of Hiroshima's buildings were destroyed and another 6–7% damaged.[19] Some 70,000–80,000 people, 30% of the city's population, were killed by the blast and resultant firestorm,[20] and another 70,000 injured.[21] Out of those killed, 20,000 were soldiers.[22]
Enola Gay landing at its base

Enola Gay returned safely to its base on Tinian to great fanfare, touching down at 2:58 pm, after 12 hours 13 minutes. The Great Artiste and Necessary Evil followed at short intervals. Several hundred people, including journalists and photographers, had gathered to watch the planes return. Tibbets was the first to disembark, and was presented with the Distinguished Service Cross on the spot.[1}

Don't bother me anymore. You're always wrong

I take it you did not read the link I posted. You libs were all approving of Obamafail appointing John Brennan as the CIA director and he loved waterboarding.

Then why are you posting about our country? Is this an impulsive urge that you get to post stupid **** and then run from it when someone challenges your stupid ****? Aren't you glad you live in Canada? I know I am.....glad you live in Canada that is.

You are correct the Enola Gay made it back safely....

The poster you replied to was talking NOT about the Enola Gay but the DOOLITTLE RAID three years prior.

He murdered more than 3000 Americans. I really don't care about anything he says unless it's that he wants an expedited execution.

Weird statement.

"He was also tortured by the CIA, including being waterboarded"

What else was done to him?

Captured crewmen of the Enola Gay?

They were not captured, both missions ended successfully landing at the base on Tinian.

I am not sure about prosecutions of those who practiced torture, the Japanese system was more aimed at those who had ordered it. In that sense it was a religious violation not just a legal one.

Many of those found guilty of torture were themselves tortured as punishment.

Were did you come up with Enola Gay? Doolittle's raid was long before the flights of Enola Gay and Bock's Car. Several members of Doolittle's raid were captured after their aircrafts were ditched.
If they were water boarded that was a slap on the wrist compared to the other atrocities the Japanese did to those they took prisoner.

The Doolittle raid, not the Enola Gay.

The mastermind of the worst terrorist attack in history got beat up? Boo ****ing hoo.
