Or something better than a .380 auto.... a .38+p snub likely would have ended their worries for good, or a 9 or better of course.
I watched the surveillance tape.... cagey wiley old geezer did EXACTLY what I told my son I'd do. Sit near the back away from the door, and when the punk with the gun TURNED HIS BACK he got up and started shooting.
Smart man.
I don't know-the COR-BON stuff I have in that little SIG P238 back up piece are pretty nasty though the standard 38 Hornady Critical Defense in my SW air weight are probably a bit nastier. My favorite round is the Winchester DHS issued 135 grain Border Patrol 40. Its a very very fast but low recoil round that opens up like a garbage can on impact.
What if Aretha Franklin had suddenly entered the place, bent over and lighted bean fart?
None of that happen. What if-ing it doesn't work, ever. The fact of the matter is the defender was wise to take the advantage when he had it because no one knew what the thugs were going to do.
If a thug has a drawn weapon and is in the process of committing a crime unless you depend on someone else to defend you you are going to be at the mercy of what the gun holder(s) plan to do. They are not logical, thinking people. Why would you want to place your life in their good graces? How do you know a man holding a gun on you has any good graces?
Duwayne Henderson and Davis Dawkins, both 19, were later arrested and face attempted armed robbery with a firearm and criminal mischief charges. They were transported to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Dawkins had a superficial wound in his left arm, but Henderson was shot in two places: his left buttock and his right hip.
Both posted bail and were released.

Beware of old people, they will kill your sorry thug-wannabe ass.
Those thugs are so lucky that geezer didn't take the time to aim and shot from the hip many times.
You have 2 choices. Take control or be controlled. When your life is the wager why let thugs dictate the terms?I have mixed feelings about this particular incident. I am glad it all went well, I do believe in a person’s right to arm themselves, and I am glad they aren’t pressing charges against the old man.
That said, it is possible he took an unwarranted risk with other people’s lives. What if they had returned fire and hit a bystander? What if they had backup standing outside? Risking your own life is one thing; risking the lives of those around you is another.
Now, if he genuinely believed it was likely they were going to shoot people that is a different story. I wasn’t there so I don’t know what the “vibe” was. I am not saying he was necessarily wrong. I just don’t want people to think that just because one is armed, that drawing on thieves is always the right choice.
Shooting from the hip s for dumb noobs trying to look all "gangsta", like holding the pistol sideways. Do people even do that stupid **** in real life? Firearms have sights for a reason.
Stories like this demonstrate that the media has a anti-2nd amendment slat to them. Because every time some pathetic ass loser shoots up a place the media is all over that like a fat man at a all you can eat Chinese buffet and suggesting that we need more anti-2nd amendment laws. But anytime some hero uses a firearm to save the life of others, the media only gives the story a token mention and there is no one in their stories saying we need to quit infringing on the 2nd amendment.
No wonder they hit everything except what they're trying to shoot.Yes gangsters really do hold guns sideways.
I don't buy that last part at all. I had a Hi-Point a long time ago, probably the cheapest pistol on the market. Only jammed once, and that's because it needed oil. Some do it for flair. Some do it because they have a cheap piece and don't want it to jam.
I watched all the Sunday morning news shows this weekend, it was an orgy of the typical leftist platitudes supporting gun control. Many times the question was asked, 'how do we respond to and prevent incidents like the theater shooting'? Nobody--not even gun rights defenders on these shows--answered, "arm yourself".
