Fifty-one percent wanted the Senate to vote in favor, while 46% did not, and 3% did not have an opinion. The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percentage points, and voters were polled by cellphone and landline.

The poll was conducted between Sept. 30 and Oct. 15, meaning many of the respondents weren't interviewed until after the Senate held its hearings for the judge.

The Gallup data shows that 84% of Democrats are against confirming Barrett to the court.

The question:

why would 51% Americans go along with TRUMP'S NOMINEE for the SUPREME COURT?

Especially when this is such a controversial appointment - and such a highly partisan issue - considering the timing and Ginsburg dying wish
that the nomination be done by the next sitting President?

This could also be another indicator that indeed.........................................Trump will win this election.

Or maybe she's not the worst pick in the world.

Well - if we listen to the Dems and CNN, they argue that any appointment should wait until after the election.

The poll shows that 51% agree with, and had sided with Trump. They want Barrett to be confirmed!

That might be the most predictable opinion in the history of politics.

First, if only 51% of the people think she is a good justice, then almost by definition she is a bad choice. She is not running for Senate, she is suppose to be regarded as a fair arbiter of conflict. To be credible, she needs to be widely accepted. She should have substantial support, not 51%

Second, if the opinions of Americans are important to you, what about the 62% of Americans that believe(d) this pick should be made by the next president?

Forgive me if I think this thread is a pointless waste of cyberspace. It is nothing but a feeble attempt to rationalize.

62% may have believed that this pick should be made by the next president............................ AND YET, 51%, still, went along with Trump!
51% supported Trump's nomination! That's still the point. :)

For all your bold and blood red babbling, you seem to not understand that the majority of Americans recognize Trump (and McConnell’s) move to quickly fill RBG’s seat for the unabashed hypocrisy that it is.

Aside from that righteous anger, 51% of Americans apparently find no sufficient reason to deny Judge Coney Barrett the same chance that McConnell ****ed Garland out of.

I happen to be one of those Americans in both groups.

They don't have to deny her!
All they could do is say they want to wait for the next sitting President to do the honor, right?

For whatever reason that they have for wanting Barrett to be confirmed -

it shows that despite the Dems' panicked attempt to demonize Barrett, and show the so-called hypocrisy of the Republicans,
and most importantly - the so-called attempt of Trump to corrupt the Supreme Court.....................

.............................51% of Americans still went along with TRUMP!

And, if you're a democrat.....looks like you yourself, didn't buy into your leaders' bulls***!
:D

Amy Coney Barrett WILL become the next justice on the Supreme Court. The people voted President Trump a win in 2016.
Elections have consequences.

Agreed. And one of the consequences of this will be the Senate flipping...... personally, I am ok with swapping a con judge for dumping Trump and neutering McConnell.

consequences lose elections.

(BTW, the people did not vote for Trump to win; he won by the rules of the electoral college. He lost amongst the people. Worry not. This time, there will be no such confusion)

Just thought it should be posted on the forum that the Senate Judiciary Committee UNANIMOUSLY voted to recommend Amy Barrett to fill the empty chair of Ruth Bader Ginsberg to the full Senate.

Congratulations Justice Barrett. You earned this honor. We have confidence in you. Don't let us down.

I'm a little concerned about Any.

has said legal careers ought not to be seen as means of gaining satisfaction, prestige or money, but rather “as a means to the end of serving God”.

Amy Coney Barrett: spotlight falls on secretive Catholic group People of Praise
Trump’s pick is a member of a ‘covenant community’ that faces claims of a ‘highly authoritarian’ structure

Donald Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the supreme court, to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg, has drawn attention to a secretive Catholic “covenant community” called People of Praise that counts Barrett as a member and faces claims of adhering to a “highly authoritarian” structure.

The 48-year-old appellate court judge has said she is a “faithful Catholic” but that her religious beliefs would not “bear in the discharge of my duties as a judge”.

At the same time, the Louisiana native and Notre Dame Law graduate, a favorite among Trump’s evangelical Christian base, has said legal careers ought not to be seen as means of gaining satisfaction, prestige or money, but rather “as a means to the end of serving God”.

The United States Constitution provides that

The House of Representatives
shall have the sole Power of Impeachment"
( Article I, section 2 ) and that

The Senate
shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments… ...

The president, vice president,
and
All Civil Officers of the United States
are subject to impeachment.

Excellent point, recognizing the fact that a no vote could possibly have alienated some, perhaps many, moderate democrat voters across the country.

That is a lie. The GOP members of the Committee unanimously voted for her. The Democrats did not attend recognizing that the American public was being screwed by Moscow Mitch. It is a sham procedure, and as right wingers like to say....there will be consequences.

The Democrats lacked the courage to vote no leading to her receiving the endorsement of the Congressional Judiciary Committee but a unanimous yes vote. That's a fact. "Yeah but" doesn't work. It is a fact that Trump was indicted. That is a fact. It is a fact that Trump was acquitted. That also is a fact. Facts are facts.

But Joe Biden has forbidden you to ever accept any fact. He said so outright. Democrats will not accept facts.

Ah the Washington Examiner! Charming!

Washington Examiner - Right Bias - Conservative - Republican - Credible
Factual Reporting: Mixed - Not always Credible or Reliable

RIGHT BIAS
These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward conservative causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage conservative causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Right Bias sources.

  • Overall, we rate the Washington Examiner Right Biased based on editorial positions that almost exclusively favor the right and Mixed for factual reporting due to several failed fact checks.

Why don't you start using The Onion as your supporting source? At least The Onion is funny!

that's really really really stupid because the founders provided the AMENDMENT process and ORIGINALISTS SUPPORT THAT. what they don't support is the crap that FDR did where the "commerce clause" was RE INTERPRETED to give Congress all sorts of powers that it was never intended to be given

The Democraps acted like petulant little children. They are the legacy of "every child gets a trophy" mentality

The polls are not the law and mob rule hopefully will never become how we run our country. However I see no reason not to elect Barret to the supreme court. She seems to be one of the best people in my life time that have been appointed by any president. The only reason not to elect her to the Supreme Court is party hate and out right prejudice.

Who cares

The republicans won't have a majority on the Supreme Court long

The new Supreme Court will fix whatever is done between now and january..

Americans are bad at math and logical thinking and can be swayed by the form of the question to produce inconsistent results? In other news, Taco Bell tastes like ass.
