That's if the ACA works as planned.

This is going to be fun and heart rending to watch at the same time.

:boohoo: :wow: :popcorn2: :scared:

100 million policies, many on big businesses, cancelled? Yeah I don't think so.

Good old Obamacare. The Democrat's gift that keeps on giving...the shaft to the American people.

"American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank".
So you are telling me that 1/3 of Americans are going to loose their healthcare?

Why do you think the President delayed the employer mandate? Trust me, it wasn't because they had not planned for the new law...

I dont think this draconian prediction is going to happen. If this was true i think many more than just one think tank is gonna be yelling this.

Why not just answer a very simple question?

Time to adapt to the new law, and to simplify the new reporting requirements consistent with the law.
This study is saying even WITH the delay that 50-100 million people are going to loose their coverage.

We are not that large, but we, and more importantly our accounting software, were ready. If the action was not beneficial to the President, it would not have been taken...

And if you like your current position next year, you can maintain that position, but I tend to think, you'll change your position...

My "position"? You need to clarify.

I have no idea by what you mean by my "position" and how ill "change"?

These types of responses are why I'm tending to post less here. I have little patience for posters that will not own up to words they have posted or are too defensive to do so. Good night, and have a good evening...

If he changes his position even slightly, it's no longer grandfathered.

I don't take posts from FOX seriously.

That's fine. You stay here and listen to the band play. I'm going to find myself a life jacket. We'll see who fares the best.

Moderator's Warning:
Moving to the appropriate forum.

As you all may have noticed there is a new sub-forum at DP. It is titled "Obamacare (ACA)". With this issue occupying center stage in the news, with it's "roll out" happening in January of 2014, and the major interest that it has amongst the population and the DP membership, the Moderation Team has decided to give it it's own dedicated sub-forum. All threads in regards to this issue should be started in this new sub-forum. If not, the Moderation Team will move them there. Threads where Obamacare is only mentioned or an ancillary issue will remain where they are originally posted, based on Mod discretion. Also, any active thread focused on Obamacare started within the past week will be moved to the new sub-forum.

This thread didn't take long, as I predicted on other threads tonite, straight from the desk of the "fair and balanced" faux outrage..
One benefit to my new cable outlet is I know exactly what you guys are watching and thinking now..
FOX has now given the GOP House of Horrors their talking points for tomorrow ..

That's if the ACA works as planned.

This is going to be fun and heart rending to watch at the same time.

That 50 to 100 million range isn't that far fetched. Before you scoff at it let me explain it's VERY possible. Obama Admin (HHS) in pre-ramp up stated that up to 67% of the 14 million who buy their insurance themselves would lose their coverage. That's over 9 million right there. You can read here about self-insured

McClatchyDC, ran a piece the other day which in their opinion up to 41 million Americans could lose their company provided Insurance.

That's mid road is about 35 million who would lose their insurance. So 50 million is just a hop skip and jump.

Now with that said, I think it'll be closer to the 100 million range myself within 5 years from business persons I talk with regularly, while it's a small sample size, they all have plans in place to dump their insurance and pay the fine if the cost benefit analysis points to it. Basically if it costs less to pay the fine then pay the insurance, they'll drop the plans in a heart beat. As of right now the avg cost for a company to provide insurance is $6,000 a year per employee. The fine for not giving insurance to employees is $2,000 per employee. So as of right now, it will be $4,000 cheaper. Then on top of that, come 2018 when the 40% tax on "Cadillac plans" ($10,200 for single or $27,500 for family) every employer who has those plans valued in that range will drop EVERYONE of those employees.

People like to argue it won't happen because companies need to retain talent.. well there are many different ways to retain talent.

Good points...and I predict the response from the liberals to your post will range from "damned greedy corporation..." to "just wait...even if that happens, Obamacare is still a good thing...".

But none of them will place the blame for the disruption of people's lives where it belongs...on the Democrats.

Do you believe that, because Ofailure has worked like a charm, so far?

The same GAO report that predicted 10-15 million in individual policy cancellations also estimated employer group policy losses at ~48% in 2013. Since the employer mandate was pushed back a year, I can only assume that the estimate would apply to 2014.
