It reminds me of songs of loss, like James Taylor or Jim Croce. I was thinking of BS&T, "Sometimes in Winter".

I just went and listened to a bit of "Sometimes in Winter" - I'd never heard that one.

The clue I gave isn't really from a song of loss, but it is from a song of sadness.
