Five people were killed and 16 others wounded when a gunman started shooting 10 minutes after the Highland Park Fourth of July parade kicked off Monday morning, authorities said.

Shortly after noon, the Highland Park police said it remained an “active incident” and urged people to stay away.
A Chicago Sun-Times reporter saw blankets covering three bloodied bodies and five other people wounded and bloodied near the parade’s reviewing stand.

Several witnesses said they heard multiple shots fired. One witness said he counted more than 20 shots.

Miles Zaremski, a Highland Park resident, told the Sun-Times: “I heard 20 to 25 shots, which were in rapid succession. So it couldn’t have been just a handgun or a shotgun.”

Zaremski said he saw “people in that area that got shot,” including “a woman covered with blood . . . She did not survive.”

When he is caught and/or dispatched, do you think it won't be by someone with a gun?

Press conference--6 dead, 24 sent to hospital. Gun (rifle) recovered, but gunman still on the loose. White male, black long hair, small build.

Added--he's described as between 18-20 years old.

Well, lets see....with 57 shot and 9 dead before this happened, this brings Chicago's 4th of July weekend grand total to (as of this moment) 14 dead, and 73 wounded......Im sure the number will climb before the day is over.

What the hell is going on in Chicago?

It didn't happen in Chicago.
 
Now 6 dead 12 in serious condition. At a 4th of July parade no less! How does this stop!!!
 
Maybe there IS something to say about censorship.

The publicity given to the Texas tragedy may have given ideas to the nut job responsible for this incident.

It seems that a lot of maladjusted youths will do anything to get their proverbial 15 minutes of fame (infamy).

Highland Park is a suburb of Chicago, and I really am not interested in splitting hairs.

Highland Park is not Chicago. It is an upscale, mostly white community about 30 miles north of Chicago.

I watched the video. I don't think it shows the band knowing a shooting happened and they all decided to just keep playing. It looked to me like they didn't really know what was going on.
