Despite report findings, almost half of Americans think Trump colluded with Russia: Reuters/Ipsos poll
Despite report findings, almost half of Americans think Trump colluded with Russia: Reuters/Ipsos poll | Reuters

From Flynn’s secret conversations with Russia’s Ambassador to the United States, to Trump jr’s (along with Kushner and Manafort) meeting with a self described Russian government attorney, to Manafort handing over polling data to someone with ties to Russian intelligence, there were numerous highly unorthodox and questionable interactions between Trump campaign members and Russians, so it isn’t surprising that many Americans aren’t convinced there was no collusion/conspiracy.

“Nearly half of all Americans still believe President Donald Trump worked with Russia to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted after Special Counsel Robert Mueller cleared Trump of that allegation.

Americans did feel slightly more positive about Trump after learning the findings of the 22-month investigation into Russian meddling in the election, the national opinion poll released on Tuesday showed.

But U.S. Attorney General William Barr's four-page summary of Mueller’s investigation did little to change public opinion about the president’s alleged ties to Russia or quench the public’s appetite to learn more.

According to Barr's summary released on Sunday, Mueller found no evidence that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia in the 2016 election, but did not exonerate the president on the question of obstructing the investigation .

When asked specifically about accusations of collusion and obstruction of justice, 48 percent of poll respondents said they believed “Trump or someone from his campaign worked with Russia to influence the 2016 election,” down 6 percentage points from last week.

Fifty-three percent said “Trump tried to stop investigations into Russian influence on his administration,” down 2 points from last week.

Trump's approval rating got a slight boost, with 43 percent of Americans saying they approved of his performance in office, the highest he has polled so far this year and an increase of 4 percentage points compared to a similar poll last week.

Since January, the proportion of adults who approved of Trump has ranged between 37 percent and 43 percent.”

Less than 45 percent approval rating in what his fan base tells us is the best economy ever. Like, in the history of the entire world? Wow. He really is a crappy President.

Now, let's get back to her emails.....

MORE THAN HALF DON'T , despite continued Fake news lies...according to your own "poll".

DEMOCRATS OVER SAMPLED : "Public opinion was split sharply along party lines, with Democrats much more likely than Republicans to believe that Trump colluded with Russia and obstructed justice. "

56% of respondents had "heard of the report, but knew little or nothing else about it".

IOW a FALSE CONCLUSION by the OP link.

ONLY 56% of respondents had "heard of the report, but knew little or nothing else about it".

If you spent as much time paying attention to what is in the thread opening as reading/citing forum rules, you’d have known that I did opine in the first paragraph.

Thread title: 48% of Americans continue to believe collusion/conspiracy in Trump campaign

First thank you for using both terms, collusion and conspiracy in your thread title. Its about time this nonsense of conflating one to the other come to an END. Are you listening Mr President?

Second the notion that there is no reason for Trump to Obstruct Justice if he himself neither colluded or conspired is utter nonsense. He could have important political allies or relatives that are under pain of possible Indictment to Prosecute for Conspiracy that he would want to protect just as one example of why he might Obstruct Justice. For another he might simply have jumped to Obstruct out of concern that he himself crossed the line and Conspired. People are Indicted for Obstruction all the time even when an underlying crime cannot meet the standard either for Indictment to Prosecution or Conviction for those Indicted.

So idiot Rick Santorum can dry up and blow away with that nonsense as can any talking head trying to make that case.

Bet the majority of those who are of the 48% have not read the report information that has been released. They rely on talking points from their favorite news sources.

I'll go with the POLL OF REGTISTERED VOTERS WHO ACTUALLY KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THE REPORT, Thank you, instead of the BOGUS POLL where ONLY 56% of respondents had "heard of the report, but knew little or nothing else about it".

Poll: Majority of voters accept Mueller's conclusion on Russia

The majority of U.S. voters accept special counsel Robert Mueller’s conclusion that President Trump did not conspire with Russia, and believe that congressional Democrats should do the same, according to a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released exclusively to The Hill.

Sixty-four percent said that they accept Mueller's conclusion, the survey found, while 61 percent said they agree with the finding. Conversely, 36 percent of respondents rejected Mueller’s conclusion and 39 percent said they disagreed with it.

A similar majority ( 61%) , said that they accept the Barr/Rosenstein conclusion on obstruction of justice, while 39 percent rejected it.

The poll, fielded in the days after Attorney General William Barr released a summary of Mueller’s long-awaited report, also found that a significant majority of voters – 68 percent – believe that Democratic lawmakers should accept the special counsel’s conclusion.

You know...the EXACT CRAP Americans are OVERWHELMINGLY (68%) TIRED OF HEARING from the TDS DEMLEFT RUSSIANISTAS....

Pay closer attention before jumping the gun.

Already did. Add it up. 44% of respondents knew LITTLE or NOTHING about the report..IN YOUR POLL.

I provided a FAR MORE PERTINENT ONE.....of REGISTERED VOTERS....aware of the report, and BARR's SUMMARY.

You forgot to include this from your reference:

The special counsel's conclusion also appears to have had little effect on Trump's political prospects.

A slight majority of respondents - 54 percent - said that the investigation's findings do not affect their support for Trump, while 22 percent said that the conclusion makes them less likely to back the president.

Yeah, it's pretty simple really. Based on all the information we have available to us it seems incredibly unlikely that the Trump Campaign didn't collude with Russian in some fashion. We may not have a smoking gun, but we still know it happened.

To this day most people, particularly racist right-wingers contend that O.J. Simpson killed his wife and her lover. Despite a jury deciding there wasn't enough evidence to convict him, despite never being able to find the murder weapon. Despite the gloves not fitting they're absolutely convinced he's a murderer. Well, they may very well be right. (oh and as an aside... Alan Dershowitz was defending O.J. just like he's defending Trump)

This is why Judges and Attorney's like AG Barr are supposed to recuse themselves from cases they have a personal interest in. Barr was appointed by Trump specifically to prevent the truth from coming out. Nobody is going to accept anything Barr tells them. Even if Barr was telling the Truth his personal bias prevents anybody from accepting his conclusions on face value.

Fifty-three percent said “Trump tried to stop investigations into Russian influence on his administration,” down 2 points from last week.

This shouldn't even be up for debate. Trump himself stated that this is exactly why he fired James Comey and Jeff Sessions.

And probably 48 percent believe Hillary personally ordered the murder of folks in Benghazi. So, yeah...

When you find that opinion poll about Benghazi you let us know

Till then your comment is worthless

Not my conclusion. The conclusion of polling data.

If you spent as much time paying attention to what is in the thread opening as reading/citing forum rules, you’d have known that I did opine in the first paragraph.

I see no such indication in your OP of whats from the article or whats your comments.
