https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/new-survey-teachers-say-re-told-not-talk-racism-race-rcna42457

The survey found that over half (54%) of all teachers and principals oppose legal limits on classroom conversations about racism, sexism and other controversial topics. The opposition to limits on these topics was higher for teachers and principals of color, at 59% and 62%, respectively.

41% approval is quite high, considering we're supposed to believe that the "limits" to discussing race and racism include not mentioning Jim Crow laws, the Civil War, separate drinking fountains, back of the bus, etc.

yea, im kinda surprised by this as well. This is something you would normally expect 90% on of minorities, and I would have expected, 66% of all teachers(at least) to oppose.

clearly, the teaching profession, while woke, isn't as woke as we thought. There is actually some considerable pushback here.

So, what you're saying is that our schools aren't the communist liberal leftist indoctrination centers that we've been hearing for the last 50 years?

Good to finally clear that up.

Not sure what your point is. Other than race-baiting, of course.

if 54% of teachers are "social marxists', that's a majority.

"41% of minorities are race baiters" lol

Scary. Been hearing this since I was a kid. Will they succeed before I die?
idk how old you are. The young are clearly far more socialist today than they were when I was in school. Just look around.

I think the poll reflects some pretty good news - a significant amount of people (especially nonwhites) know the difference between 'teaching the history of racism' versus assigning traits based on race, as CRT does.

The media have successfully highlighted a couple of extreme incidents from classrooms which most people find disagreeable or even shocking. Should there be laws against (for example) 'teaching' kids about the problems with fascism by having them read Mein Kampf or other white supremicist propaganda, or against segregating white kids and having the others treat them as inferior? Obviously such examples can go either way. I'd expect opinions to be divided on whether such extreme examples should be handled by administrative (DoE/principles etc.) or legislative means.

Teachers' opinions that in some cases there should be legal limits doesn't necessarily imply support for Republican efforts to whitewash history, deny ongoing systemic racism and stifle legitimate lessons in facts, critical thinking and empathy; though no doubt some fraction of teachers do support those suppression efforts too.

mein kampf isn't sex, and if teachers were actually responsible about such things, there wouldn't need to be such laws. This is the left pushing boundaries to see what they can get away with before people actually tell them no, and now it's going to be parents telling them no.

tell that to the left. there's not enough nazi republicans out there to make a factor, no matter how much you talk it up. You should tell the left, that just because they're aainst cuttin 3 year old's dicks off, doesn't make them a racist nazi, because for whatever reason, the left has this idea in their head.

as i said, not enough to make any "pro-slavery" efforts significant.

There's idiots and extremists in all groups. In the case of education of course (as I noted) there are already administrative means of dealing with rogue teachers, so arguably there don't need to be such laws. Politicizing the 'issue' and turning it over to idiot politicians to 'solve' has a considerable risk of backfiring... even on the politicians' own agendas, never mind the often decent intentions of those riled up by sensationalist media.

Yeah, when you talk about cutting off 3 year olds' dicks you're just showing you're either mind-numbingly ignorant or a pervert.

I don't support letting stormfronters dictate what can be taught about racism and what can't.
