3 Dead, including suspect, in Marine Base Shooting.....

Three people, including the suspect, were killed in a shooting at Marine Base Quantico, a base spokesman said.

It began with a shooting around 11 p.m. Thursday that left one dead, said Lt. Agustin Solivan. That shooting lead to a standoff between authorities and the suspect, who was barricaded in barracks at the base.

Authorities entered the barracks early Friday and found the suspect dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound along with a second victim. Solivan could not say what prompted authorities to enter the barracks.

No, they were all enlisted Marines including the shooter.

The shooter (bad guy) was Sgt. Eusebio Lopez, 25, of Pacifica, California. He was a tactics instructor at the base's Officer Candidates School and specialized as a machine-gunner. He joined the Marines in 2006.

The two vitims were:

Lance Cpl. Sara Castromata, 19, of Oakley, California, served as a warehouse clerk. She joined the Marines in 2011 and was promoted to her current rank in February.

Cpl. Jacob Wooley, 23, of Guntown, Mississippi, was a field radio operator. He joined the Marines in 2010.

I think you missed the way the comment was aimed.

I always find it amazing at how people respond to incidents like this. And in fact, from most news media outlets there has been a deafening silence since this incident happened. And I think I have a pretty good idea why.

Because the incident appears to have been done with a pistol.

I bet if this had been a civilian workplace incident, we would have heard a lot more about this. And I bet that if the shooter had used an "assault rifle", it would have been headline worthy and all of the nutcases would have jumped screaming out of the woodwork.

In fact, I heard more over the last several days about this incident then I have about the MCDEC shooting:
